The Kop at Valley Parade. 1976 anyone remember which game it was ?.
Beaten by what should have been a disallowed goal by Jim McCalliog
, after Ernie Hunt scored against Everton with a similar free kick in 1970 which was banned for the ball not covering traveling it's circumference.

The night we beat Darlington at their place and the wall collapsed and the police had to move City fans round to the other end of the ground.

Another for the older members of the forum City team photo 1963/64 season several legends but Rodney Green was one of my favourites, one of the few players to square up to Jimmy Scoular and finish the games with his legs in tact.

Lots of familiar faces there! Was at Belle Vue with Dave Roper. Barry Webster was a favourite of mine. Rod Green used to come in to Norman's Cafe and have his breakfast, pre-training,wearing the same corduroy jacket every day. I used to spend more time in Norman's and the Venezia than I did at school.

    There'll be such a commotion
    When we win promotion
    So cheer up, my lads

Thank goodness they have learnt from the past as you'll know for many years it was common practice for fans to change ends to which end their team were attacking second half, but I do believe the word had been put out that that Friday night the Darlington home end was ours for the night, then the clubs brought in segregation and fans had to stay in the area where they bought tickets, hence we now have teams preferring to attack one end, in our case the Kop second half, there would be little point attacking the Bradford End with no home fans in it, back in the day it was very vocal in the Bradford End and that was just amongst ourselves :joy:.

If I recall my dad knew BrianKelly and his father. I believe he owned the Avondale car dealership in Saltaire. Memory hazy but I think I’m right. I think he purchased our first family car from him ..a Wolsely.

Steve Ingle is spot on Dave. Him and his mum lived dead opposite us on Lupton St behind the Bradford End. Great community in those days. I used to deliver his papers and a well known “men’s magazine included!
