Player knew it was a red could tell when ref gave him yellow. Refs are so bad in this league he only gave yellow due to reaction of everyone to the challenge.

 

Watched the replay of the disallowed goal. For me Wright was onside and a perfectly good goal.
When Crichlow shot, Wright was not in front of the defender, slightly behind.
The 'keeper parried and Wright followed up.
Goal all day long (plus Harrogate should have been down to 10 men. Dreadful tackle on Oliver who was very lucky not to have a broken leg)

 

Tough call leaving the leading scorer out but the team looked better balanced and it allowed us the option of the long ball but they mixed it up much better. All in all the sort of performance that gets results at this level. No complaints tonight but tougher test to com.

Although Wright probably edged it, due to being our focal point of attack, I think Gilliead deserved the MOTM. several perfectly timed challenges, broke play up, organised the players around him. Excellent performance, although it was helped with the addition of an extra player in the midfield. Oliver was a solid addition to the attack. Gave us an option to get the ball forward. Crichlow was class. Cook came on with that hunger you want to see in players when they come off the bench. Credit to Sutton also who ran himself into the ground, literally.

Negative aspects were Chapman had a poor showing. credit where its due, he puts in the milage. Links up play here an there, but he needs to be taking his man on more times an improving his output. Otherwise, the burden to create is left to the other winger, in this case, Wright. I am worried about Smallwood’s mental state. Didn’t perform again an I worry about the pressure the fans put on him, albeit he is an experienced championship level player but nonetheless he is still human.

All in all, not the best of performances, but we were in control for large portions of the game, only gave Harrogate one real chance. Hopefully this gives us the momentum needed to carry on with our game against Rochdale on Sunday

More of a battling performance than a quality performance but everyone put a shift in. Mark Hughes deserves some credit for changing things and putting Wright on corners. Also has our pitch ever looked this good at this time of year?

Not sure what to make of that game. Great ball from Halliday for the goal but jeez the keeper has to save that. After that i thought there was more effort but generally we looked a team shorn of confidence. Thought Harrogate moved the ball quicker, especially in the middle and it was great to see Falkingham go off as he was dictating play.
Second half a bit better as Harrogate looked devoid of ideas but we still seem to lack a cutting edge in terms of creativity.
Halliday my motm and Oliver put in a shift. A welcome three points but one of those games i'll have forgot about a month or two.

 

Hughes said Cook was looking a little leggy and jaded and with three games in a week he wanted to change things.

Maybe the reason it wasn’t the best because well in a nutshell it’s a different set up to what’s been drilled into them for months ???? Think we get a win against Salford then we have a good week to work on it ........... and let’s be right at least we actually gave them a go rather than letting them do what they want like the cup game ............ without us being arrogant it was there big day out so it’s a good 3 points from a dodgy game .............. we have 3 games out of 4 at home coming up ........... 3 wins like last night will do me ......... it’s not pretty but if it gets results then who cares

 

No wonder Sutton was cramping up the miles he put in last night, we certainly looked better with Smallwood. Gilliead and Sutton, I thought Crichlow would have been near to MOM winning his share of headers/tackles, rallying the defence and walking them out, big test Sunday Matt Smith scored 3 in last nights game at Grimsby.

 

It was a typical league two game one where we had to do the dirty work better than we have been doing. We got the result and fully deserved it in my opinion Lewis had only one save to make.

 

If he hadn't changed anything and we lost it would be bye bye,everybody could see it needed changing we were far too easy to beat,defo sending off and clearly onside for 2nd goal,the liner couldn't possibly see both the shot and wright at the same time,

 

Chrichlow was outstanding last night Gilly and Wright were good also and it was good to see Oliver leading the line winning headers and holding the ball up
