Could not agree more. I find the facility's at VP perfectly adequate and it will always be home, but i did use to stand on the open kop in winter and climb the broken concrete steps and then descend into the piss flooded toilet , those where the days , i can almost smell the pipe tobacco.

Been to the O2 Manchester for many a gig and always found it a far more enjoyable evening. Can not wait for Bradford live to open. I might even catch a bus down from Thornton.

Ah the days of managing to get tickets for gigs. I remember seeing the gaslight anthem at the cockpit in Leeds, sweaty little dungeon but an atmosphere you could never recreate.

I don't think it is a listed building, Alhambra and St Georges yes, but i have never seen the new Victoria /Odeon building on any lists. I do listed building applications , as part of my job. The council where thinking of demolishing the building a few years back and listing would have stopped that. Hence the bloody awful Richard Dunn's can not be touched, but this fantastic building could have been bulldozed. Sheer madness.

You're right Andy its not listed, the council did everything in their power to try and pull it down.

it was turned down seven times for listing.

One comment on the refusal was the Odeon building is not of sufficient quality to warrant Listed status.

One thing i will say regarding some of this nostalgia trip and fond memories, if you don't move forward you get left behind. There wasn't that much difference in the state of the respective city centres in Leeds and Bradford going back to the early 90s. All i'll say is now look at both.

Thank goodness Richard Dunns was given listed status, i'd dread to think of vandals getting in and wrecking the lovely ornate interior.....

You have to laugh at the idiocy in all this, if they had taken the route Huddersfield and Hull did in making a combined stadium for football and rugby we would be in a different place, but the pure fantasy in these ideas from the start has done irreparable damage.

Look at this rubbish from the 90s,

2 x 325 room hotels, a night club a 65,000 seater stadium (this is pre Super League) an indoor theme park, casino, shopping mall.

It's nice to see absolutely nothing has been learnt and they plough on with the same garbage but this time it's solar farms etc.

I'll do a double up with Cannon Mills. Can't believe that place hasn't set fire to itself.

That was from ex City director John Garside who was Bob Martins mate, he came up with many crazy schemes and drawings pretending he was an architect.

Talking of mills, what about the site of Drummond's mill on Lumb lane. That's a pretty big site. Could we get a new stadium on there. Slightly closer to North Parade and the city centre . Untouched since the fire, cough cough, could not get planning permission.

Why don't the Bulls just be tenants at either the Horsfall or the Cougars?

I mean they get 3k gates, I soon think people would see beyond the novelty of a bottom half championship club playing in a posh stadium.

Think of it like Darlington football club.

You always know it’s a good debate about the football club and Bradford because people like @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler and the tea boy dancer @Sergio Pinto III@Sergio Pinto III don’t take part.

    Wonder why that is!
