Without any outgoings, the other big question is who is making it to the bench!

    Agree.

If all teams applied similar defensive strategies away from home and were successful, then the whole league would just turn into dull soulless draws.

It is up to City to find a way through. Over 90 minutes we should be able to score at least one!!

Out of the blocks, high tempo. Score in the first 15 minutes and then the opponents have to attack and the game opens up.

We need to press and pepper the opposition’s goal from the outset.

    Brilliant General.
I agree but I don't consider getting bodies behind the ball like Crewe did to be "dark arts" yes it is up to us to move the ball quicker and break down sides like that. The "dark arts" is more like Doncaster's tactics. Yes getting men behind the ball but also players time wasting by for instance going to ground clutching their heads knowing that play acting or not the referee has to stop the game.

Certain Prem managers are this week calling out the “one minute goal kicks” . Adding time on and doing zero about it is killing the game. I timed the Crewe keeper and he was anything from 20-40 seconds. It’s pathetic. One single rule “alternative interpretation” has made the situation worse. Add time on and PENALISE the offender. Full backs taking throw ins are as bad!

Can’t see us ending our run against these . Won’t be a pretty game but they will play the nastier hoof ball style better than us

Fancy us for the win, after Cook inevitably scores for BCFC. Plus, their best player is not going to be on the pitch:

...and be more smarter in getting free kicks around the opposition box and then be goal productive from the set pieces. Corners too.
This is sometimes what you have to rely on to get a break through - we score the game it generally opens up to our advantage - as you say.

It's not about teams "helping us" though, they've every right to bend the rules to suit, it's more about the referee enforcing the said rules and clamping down on illegal time wasting like they promised to do with the new directive at the start of the season.

Would love a sh1t house 1-0 win, strange position of the season currently for us, as a win would have us down as not a bad start to the season with 11 points from 7 games which would be decent considering the amount of new players settling in, but a defeat or a draw would be a poor start, and with 2 very tough away games to follow I feel it's a must win despite it being so early in season.

This strength in depth is something we haven’t had for years but deciding what is the best 11 is a real dilemma for MH. One thing for sure we are going to have a really strong bench

One solution, something I've always wondered why the rule allowed it, goalkicks to be taken from the side the ball goes dead. Attacking team cannot chose which side to take a corner from, so why should the keeper with a goal kick

One rule change that should be brought in is a maximum dead ball time allowance. If fans want consistency, the referees need absolute guidance on what constitutes time wasting. If you leave it up to referees to decide you'll get massive variations in what constitutes time wasting. If you impose a time limit for getting the ball back in play then everyone knows where they stand.
