I always seem a bit uninspired when I listen to MH on the radio.
All ways seems to be trying to temper expectations. I also feel like he had no option but to join us rather than it be a challenge he really wanted.

 

All managers temper expectations. They would look right burkes saying we will win this, we will win that . You knows what happens then!?

He could be spouting utter bollocks like DA used to. I’d much rather him not blow his own trumpet just yet.

 

He's measured. He knows there's work to do and it won't all come together from Saturday but I'm sure over the season he knows what he wants and hopefully he's got the players to carry it out. One thing that comes across is that he wants the team to be able to adapt to the game and be able to change things without the need for him to be a dictator type of manager. Old fashioned captains were tasked with that kind of responsibility in the past and maybe that's what he wants from this group. They didn't adjust against chesterfield and he didn't change things either, perhaps a little lesson for them going forward. He certainly showed last season that he was able to change tactics early in a game and now he wants the players to take more responsibility when things aren't working. Just a thought. I think it's going to be a bit up and down initially but I reckon he'll get it right ultimately

 

He’s also done a lot of interviews where he says we’re going for it, and I think in one he even said we’re aiming for the automatics!

There is a difference between “ aiming” and saying we “ will” BL.

 

Genuinely because no one else would touch him. He started to get a reputation of being a dinosaur at the top end of the game. There is a good story somewhere where Fulham players just started to ignore him and do their own thing which saw them climb the league. I don’t think has much of a coach but he knows the game and knows how to put out a team. I believe he also works his teams hard in training. He demands respect and I think at this level thats all we need. To be well drilled and disciplined.

Hughes did a good job at Blackburn, Stoke and putting Man City in a decent place and I feel with this summer’s recruitment that he should take us up automatically.

 

Where did you get the source of this 'good story' re Fulham?

 

I think he comes across as calm, measured and enthusiastic. Yes he made enquiries elsewhere, but for whatever reason they didn’t happen. When you are at a crossroad in your career, you evaluate where you have come from, and where you want to go next. He could have sat at home waiting for a big club, but he hasn’t, he has decided to manage in lg2. Hooray we benefit. Yes if he makes our club successful again, the big clubs will come calling, then it is down to him as to where he wants to be. He maybe so attached to us, he can’t leave
