Look, we have done ok so far but it’s a big ask to go from 14th to 7th or the top 3. Currently we don’t have enough to make that leap.

 

Yeh like for like different players. Just thinking Watt wont have been offered peanuts to stay and we will be looking at receiving a bit of compo I suppose. All helps the coffers when we are signing players from the Championship I suppose.

Seems like East is the like for like replacement if anything. But with Gilli and Sutton as options too I'm pretty content. I liekd Gill at CM under Sparky.

I really want to see Dion back , plus a RB ( unless the Walsall lad is coming in to play the wing back role?) and a CB.
Watt I’m meh about either way but for his footballing education should learn a lot from Smallwood and maybe another 18 -24 months with a release clause built in?

 

Seems that the Smallwood/ Steven Gent link goes back through the families. Looks like Gents influence had a major say in Smallwood coming to Valley Parade.

 

But you agree we are on the right track...11 brought in and not even July 1st. Think you are forgetting there are still 5 weeks of the window open.

As for Chapman - his CV is certainly better than Vernams. Played at a higher level and has done it in L1 at Shrewsbury. Vernam hasn't.

 

I'm pretty sure Dion will be back when Luton have sorted their situation out.

 

Yeh, we connected the dots as Gent was involved with Boro youth when Smallwood was brought through. Gilliead was out with Cooke, Wyke and Novak a month or so ago and apparently Smallwood was there too.

Throw in the Chapman signing and very hard for him to say no I guess. As long as the numbers added up!!!

Comes from his brother who seems happy with the move. It's a game changer that wouldn't have happened without Gent being in the recruitment department. The club seems to putting Jigsaw pieces in the right slots at the moment
