Will Adams Walk?

Adams must regret joining a dead beat club from an up and coming side he just go promoted. Why oh why would you leave a club on the up to join a club that's been on its knees for the last 6-7 years.

 

Because we have far more potential than Morecambe if Adams can bring us that sucsess.

 

Potential has to be realised. You need to take risks to unlock it and our current owners and previous owners aren’t / weren’t willing to do that.
Only GR gave us anything other than the bottom 2 leagues.

Managers rarely walk away from a job, regardless of how bad the situation is and whether they're culpable or not. There's obviously the financial ramifications, why would they walk when most clubs will send them packing sooner rather than later anyway.

It's hardly an industry known for its patience and long term planning. Walking away from a job is quite probably a big black mark on a manager's CV as well. Any future employer is going to be apprehensive that they'll do the same again if things aren't going as planned.

Adams doesn't look like the type to walk away. I actually feel a bit sorry for him. The pre-season hype about this season being solely about going up certainly wasn't his doing. They've done him a massive disservice by not matching their words with investment in the squad. Looking dispassionately at the squad assembled, is anyone surprised that they aren't ripping up this league? Because I'm certainly not, the available players are performing just as I thought they would, like a mid table team.

 

Agree with all of this Chris, though I wouldn't feel sorry for Derek Adams. He's a proven bruiser, knew the immensity of the task he was taking on and won't be asking for any sympathy. He'll be working his bollocks off behind the scenes with his current players - and already planning for the key three or four he needs to sign in January. Still think he'll take us up this season.

I think we’ve had 20 or so managers in the last 30 years, only three have had a promotion and the club has been in serious decline for the last five years. If
Adams turns that around and gets us back to where we were when Stefan bought the club, it’s a huge plus in his managerial CV. That’s why, it’s a proper challenge but the club arguably has more potential than most in League 2.
