With Scotland's Covid Passports set to go live on the 1st October, I noticed this gem on their very own website.

I find it disgusting that the government are now saying that a 12 year old is mature enough and has enough information to overrule their parents and get a vaccine that has serious cardiovascular side effects.

This is not new, the rules have been in place for many years, and they are based on informed consent, which is not a blanket rule to allow 12 year olds to overrule their parents. If you want to understand the process, and how it came about, it might be worth having a look at the 'Gillick Competent' for some background to this.

and again not a new rule. Children that are deemed competent can over rule their parents for medical treatment. Just because you and @Frank Castle@Frank Castle were unaware of it doesn’t make it new. Or do you think the government should change the normal
Health care rules just for the vaccination?

I'm well aware of the rule. The point I'm making is that I'm a 35 year old and I do not believe that there is enough information about the jab for me to be informed, so how on earth can a 12 year old give informed consent?

whereas a lot of people think there is enough information. That is where the decision lies for parents and children. If they think there isn’t enough information then opt for no.

Let's be honest if a child says yes they will jab them, that's what they want to do. If they say No they will keep asking them.

The whole set up of potential vaccine passports was to get as many people vaccinated as possible and if you think this rule will be honoured like it may have been in the past then you are a bit naive.

It's fully loaded to vaccinate as many people as possible and on those terms a fair set of bias will set in.

So you are accusing a whole team of nursing staff of being biased and unprofessional?

I'm accusing ministers of putting teams of nursing staff in very difficult position where a "rare" override will be anything but rare going forward.

I don't trust a word coming out of the government at this stage and if I don't trust what they say, I can't have any confidence in anything they implement by default.

If they were going to do this they should have looked at rolling one shot out to those of secondary school age during the summer holidays, again very late decision making that could easily see another spike in cases.

I was "invited" via email this morning to download a digital passport. Official looking NHS type logo but when I opened the source, the sender showed as Concept Resourcing......Needless to say I didn't enter any info and apply for one.

Only 64% of Bradford population double jabbed according to NHS guy on Look North tonight, poor effort.

True but feels like it defeats the purpose of it a bit considering it’s a highly contagious virus. If the vaccine is so useful to that age group they should have had it months ago as they’re more exposed than most.

It was more useful to give it to those with higher risk first

It was and they had been well done by the summer holidays which is when I suggested they should have been done if kids were such a problem to the pandemic all of a sudden, kids many of which will be spending time with at risk grandparents as we speak and are still going into school unvaccinated. Again the government are reactive and changing their tune every two minutes instead of being proactive and trying to get on top of the virus.

As far as I’m aware there were no plans to offer it to under 18s, then it became under 16s and now not to under 12s although I’m sure it’ll be down to new borns soon.

They now appear to be splitting the data between those who have been admitted to hospital for Covid, and those who were due into hospital for something else but later tested positive for Covid.

On the 1st September in England the raw data shows 835 admissions to Hospital.

The data now breaks this down showing that 350 were admitted to hospital because of Covid (description given "Provider Level Data - Admissions - Number of patients admitted with COVID-19 (Last 24hrs)")

With 463 people were found to be to have Covid whilst attending hospital for a number of different reasons (description given "Provider Level Data - Diagnoses - Total number of inpatients diagnosed with COVID (Last 24hrs)")

There is a discrepancy of about 22 in that figure for whatever reason.

Of the 463 people found to have covid on admission nearly half, 215 were over the age of 65, which you would expect to be weighted to for general hospital admissions pre covid.

Data covers the period from 7th April 21 to 1st September 21.

In total those admitted for Covid total 23,308 for that period, those who were found to have Covid after being admitted for other reasons total 29,768. It's totally disingenuous to have pushed the two figures added together out to artificially push up the number of people in hospital.

I have to say I'm quite shocked at the difference in the figures, I thought there might be 1 or 2 in 10 that were included in those figures, but it's nothing of the sort, it's closer to 5 or 6 in 10, it also appears to show the high spread in the hospital environment.

It is good they are now showing the breakdown on hospital admissions. Gives a better picture of what is going on out in the country. Suppose the total figure does give you a picture of how many beds are tied up with COVID cases
