Absolutely in full agreement. Left goods and food, particularly Morrisons on an evening, when no till manned.

If Ken was still running the company they wouldn’t have an self serve, any home shopping, any self scan or anything. Probably would still have someone putting price tickets on stuff

Yes indeed. He would be rueful of the current customer service standards.

    From the T&A

CITY fans have two more games before they will have to pay by card only for food and drink at Valley Parade.

The kiosks in the concourses at the stadium will become cashless in time for Rochdale’s visit on October

So suites are staying cash and card due to high percentage of cash used in there. Wonder if that tally’s with a higher average age

Let's not forget some places have a minimum payment required for a card what if someone wanted some milk but you have to spend £5 to use your card.

do places still do that. Can not say I can remember a shop I’ve been in that does. And obviously if they do then they will accept cash

As someone who went cashless a few years ago, I haven't come across that. I use an app or contactless for everything.

One thing I have picked up on is that a lot more places down here (Stafford) use apps for ordering and payment. For example, the bar I frequent the most does not accept cash, it's either the app or contactless.

Bradford City are just going the way I would expect; I'm sure the suites will follow before too long.

    I thou

Done it in WHSmiths, when “ instructed” to use the thing, done it in a supermarket when buying a simple meal deal. Er NO! Wife is exactly of the same opinion. If it saves on staffing costs which is the number one reason for their use, I don’t see my food bill do nothing but climb weekly. They can Foxtrot Oscar!

I think there are two different issues going on here. One is the use of self service till machines, which I avoid whenever possible - preferring to keep a checkout operator in work. The other is cards versus cash, where I regard carrying cash as an unnecessary hassle these days.

We were at Centre Parcs the other week, that was cashless, phone or card only.

Got its pluses, easier and if you have only have your card your money isn’t going in the one armed bandit. Saves shops a fortune in cash handling fees at the bank which is the sole reason they’re keen to do it.

On the negatives, anything other than a £1 or 50p that I have in my pocket I put in a jar, with £2 coins as well as shrapnel I get six or seven hundred a year that way. That stops with cashless

I've seen plenty of smaller shops that do Storck.

I'm happy to pay contactless for bigger purchases but in smaller shops I always try to pay by cash to help them avoid bank charges. Probably doesn't make a huge difference though.

It is great for the banks and governments, You earn it and never see it the banks just credit you with a number and keep the actual cash without having to distribute it while making a charge to the retailers for each card transaction it is a win-win for the banks
