No, because you guys are pleading poverty, only to then go and spend more money on a CB who really through his career has only ever shown the odd spark of promise amongst the regular low-quality performances. So if you didn't have the £25mill for Lingard who you know works in your team there is no way you find even half of that now you spent £30mill on Zouma. Unless ofc you sell a player but you have priced your salable assets like Rice and Bowen out of moves already

What are your expectations of Utd now then?

Not much different to what they were, I'm not expecting us to win the title, think it's still a season or so too early for that. There's a couple of places we still need upgrades either by bringing other players in or some players still needing a year more to develop but I'm expecting us to be in the mix for longer than we were last season so if there is a major slip up we are there to take advantage. I think we can win a cup, ideally CL or FA Cup but league cup would do

In all truthfulness your transfer business has be decent. Not convinced you needed Ronaldo though. Don't know what it brings. Like when Spurs brought back Bale or Bradford resigning Evans. Sometimes things are just better left.

Never go back to your ex. It's done!

We didn't need him, I would say City needed him more because let's be honest they have no-one who can really play as a focal point well. Ferran Torres isn't a striker and Jesus just hasn't come close to fulfilling his potential.

However signing him is a bonus because there are a few issues with the strikers (be it seemingly lost all confidence in Martials case, the internationals with covid isolation issue of Cavani plus the niggles he had a few of last season, Rashford putting off surgery for the Euros meaning he won't be back until November or Greenwood it just being too early for him to lead the line in a single striker formation) which he will help with AND most importantly its the message. If we had let him go to City what message does that send about the club not just to the fans but to the players. It's one thing just sitting back and letting him join say PSG but sitting back and letting City have a free run would have been a massive negative across the board. As it is Ronaldo will give all the players a boost, the young players especially will see and learn from his level of professionalism just like the Class of 92 learnt from Cantona's.

It's also the kind of signing that might get Pogba to put pen to paper on a new deal and will also be appealing to anyone else we go after in the next couple of windows

Ronaldo isn't the player he once was, he is nowhere near the number one footballer in the World anymore. He won't even be the best player at Utd when he joins, Fernandes is better than him right now.

Maybe not the best player in the world right now. But still the top scorer in Serie A last season with 29 goals. Not exactly a steep decline just yet, eh?

It's a superb signing for me and elevates Man Utd into genuine title challengers (if they weren't already).

The money they paid is peanuts and without doubt he improves not just the squad but also the the starting XI.

Then off course there's all the commercial money generating stuff for the club.

    What's not to like?

Fernandes wasn't better than him in the same Portugal team at the Euros so it's definitely not a given he will be at Man Utd.

I don't know. As much as I like Bruno he is a player who when he isn't having a good game (which is rare especially for United) he is almost not existent all game. You saw at the Euros where he didn't really make a mark. Ronaldo on the other hand can be quiet but can almost turn a game on its head when he wants to. There aren't many players with that ability to turn a game on a regular basis when he isn't playing well. It's exactly why personally I would prefer the likes of Ronaldo or Zlatan in my team than a Mbappe or Neymar because while they may be older through hard work and intelligence they have been able to adapt to lessening physical abilities while keeping those key attributes that have always made them deadly which neither Mbappe and Neymar have shown to have even now

Weren't people writing Cavani off, and then he absolutely smashed the last part of the season, and was head and shoulders the best player - not just in performances, but in experience as well. I think CR will do the same. And despite him a different type of player as he used to be, he's still going to put a lot of fear in opposing teams by his reputaion alone. Will be interesting to see if Ollie sees him as a starter, or an impact player. In turn, it will be interesting to see how CR reacts to that.

As we have seen in the past if someone else wants it Bruno is always willing to let them have it so yeah if Ronaldo demands it he will let him. Mind you it would be interesting to see them share it as it makes it harder to prepare for the keepers as they have two completely different styles

That moment when you find out Ronaldo is rejoining Manchester United and you won't be taking penalties anymore...

I was praying Ronaldo would sign for someone else instead for the same reason.

Absolute nightmare now picking the right Man united asset.

All about the pens! I think I’ll sell Fernandes for Ronaldo just on that basis. I’ve got Salah in there for consistent points. Ronaldo will be a forward.

If Ronaldo is a forward it makes it easier for me to shuffle without using my wildcard.

My biggest headache is that I went for Greenwood over Fernandes to help the balance of my team and had a plan to get Fernandes in around Game week 15 when Man Uniteds fixtures are immense.

Game over for that plan I think and I'll have to reassess.
