That should be the norm until were know more with regards getting this virus under some sort of control, surely its not too much to ask to wear a mask and give strangers 2 metre social distancing.

    I agree.
I think masks will still be required on public transport, at least for a while longer.

Yet were told the least we should be doing is wearing a mask as it does give the user and others around the best protection, but if that's your take and disagree then don't complain if a part of getting back into live games is the wearing of a face mask.

Social distancing is far more effective than wearing a face covering. They offer very little protection even when worn properly (most people don't wear them properly).

I'm sure the I read face masks were here to stay because they do give protection, but as you say only if worn correctly.

I've been out and about a fair bit over the last month. I don't wear a face covering as I'm exempt. I expected to feel a bit awkward on public transport and in shops but so many people just use them to cover their mouths and leave their noses out, what's the point?

I genuinely saw one bloke remove his mask to sneeze into his hand before putting it back on.

think masks will be needed where social distancing can not be done, eg buses.

They all took PCR tests before the game didn't they? They also had to take one after I believe, although I'm not quite sure the point of that.

think the reason for it after is to see how many that attend catch it and see if that is above the current national average.

I think masks will stick around on a voluntary basis for quite some time.

But you only have to go outside your home to see that voluntary social distancing is already done for.

I had to nip into bristol town centre to pick some antibiotics up yesterday and the pandemic seemed pretty over for a lot of people there haha. in fairness the vast majority were wearing masks but there was v little distancing at all.

Each to their own. There was 1 death yesterday and 1,600 cases found from over 1m tests.

Yesterday I felt sorry for the hospitality sector, whilst it was pissing it down and hospitality had to shut it's doors sending staff home and losing money by trying to run a business with their hands tied behind their backs even with all the vulnerable people having been offered the vaccine at least once and people aged 40 and low risk now being able to get the vaccine, you couldn't help thinking how the rules are just picked out a bingo bag when all retail shops were open and you could pile it the white rose while large pubs and restaurants couldn't let a sole inside.

There are enough people vaccinated now for people to start accepting that there will never be a zero covid policy especially if people want to leave the country as they can't co-exist. You can't have open borders and be covid free. So we have to either now accept that the risk of covid has been hugely reduced due to the vaccine and start to get back to normal.

In two weeks restrictions are to be reduced further, if you don't believe they are safe then I suggest you hide behind your sofa and let those who believe the risk has been reduced to an acceptable level get on with our lives.

I currently see no reason to deviate from the government's roadmap and, as you mention, there will be a further lifting of restrictions in two weeks time. The roadmap (with the 5 week gap between each step) and the test events are providing a wealth of data that will be invaluable should we suffer any setbacks.

The most important thing now is to get back to 'normal' without putting our recovery at serious risk. The greatest risk now is that one of the 'variants of concern' gets a hold in this country and that is likely to be the focus of any ongoing restrictions (I suspect a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they see the government's list of 'green' countries).

The success of the vaccines has been nothing short of miraculous and is down to the hard work of scientists across the world. It looks like we will be ready to go with the 'variant' booster jabs, as soon as the current vaccination programme (every adult) is completed. By the end of 2021 (or early in 2022) we should have reached 'full' protection.

The easing of restrictions is still a bit slow for me given where we actually are in terms of infections but I understand the 5 week gap to gather data and it makes a bit of sense to be cautious. It's a bit of a false premise though in some respects because voluntary compliance with the rules is probably at the lowest point it has been throughout the last year. If there's any body out there who still believe that people are only meeting in gardens rather than indoors and have not hugged their Grandkids then I've got a bridge to sell them.

In terms of the variants - I'm not too worried about them but I am surprised that we haven't had any conclusive data on whether all the vaccines work on them, especially those that have been around basically since the start of the roll out. Surely that's enough time to be relatively certain of their effects?

We had a BBQ a few weeks back, and when it got cold we went inside. I've been in my parents house for her birthday and mothers day. My kids go to school, my dad goes to work, I work, my other half works. If it is ok for us to do these things for work, then it's good enough for me to do these things for leisure aswell.

I think it's a joke that hospitality is still being hung out to dry. This weekend I went to the gym twice. High intensive Cardio in a gym with another 40/50 people for an hour indoors. Yet a put can't cap the number inside the pub to a safe level whilst the white rose and trafford centre are rammed and retail shops are free for alls, as supermarkets have been for months.
