Ha..Vintage Restaurant. Prawn cocktail, mixed grill, black forest gateau, washed down with a bottle of Mateus Rose. Finish with an Irish coffee. The 70s were the time for taking your girlfriend out somewhere for a meal.

I used to catch my bus home to Undercliffe from outside that "restaurant". Further down the corner was the El Greco

Found this. I believe it was taken on 1 October 1967 at Bradford Exchange.

Random fact: Bradford City's last ever league win at Bradford (Park Avenue) was the day before this picture was taken.

While I'm digging around the corners of the Internet, I found another railway picture of interest. This one shows a train at a rapidly falling apart Manningham Station. If you look carefully you can see the Valley Parade floodlights.

I remember the Vintage well, one of our favourite places for our Saturday meal out.
My wife still reminds me of the time I had far too much beer before we arrived and then more of the aforementioned Mateus rose, then had to rush to the toilet and lose my steak meal before I had even paid for it.
    Great days.

Apart from the Vintage back in the day there were a few places you could go if you wanted a decent steak (before red meat became a no no). The Grovesner (Berni Inn), La Rhonde, Little Italian, Bank Street Steak House, The Belfry.

Whilst having a look at old photo's of Manningham Station I found this aerial shot. You can see VP off to the right and what looks like traces of the canal on the far left? Any guesses on when the phot was taken. It looks like there's a roof on the Midland Road stand if that gives any clues. FYI - I don't have a date when it was taken.

Spent a lot of my youth in the Belfry cellar bar. Played the underground type music I have always loved. Had some great times there!!

Was that the pub top left on Ivegate (looking up) its had so many names over the years, our lot always went into the White Lion on Johns Street prior to the game, then when that closed we formed a supporters branch in the Fox & Goose just off Canal Road.

No the Belfry was on the junction of Lister Lane and Bolton Road, just above Peel Park gates and opposite the top of Queens Road.
The one at the top of Ivegate on the left was the Bernie Inn (Grovesner), later became the Rams Revenge.

No Manningham Station was at the side of Queens Road bridge, the site eventually became the home of Manningham Concrete. Frizinghall Station is opposite Bolton Woods at the bottom of the road down from Bradford Grammar School, down last the Black Swan.

I'm showing my age on here today, just as well I'm back at work on Thursday. Wish we were all down at VP tonight. Have to settle for iFollow but it's not the same as starting the evening at Bar Italia.

Yes of course we occasionally went to the Bolton then across the road to the Belfry, was it always called the Belfry as it was always full on a Friday night.
