We can’t leap from 23rd to 3rd, mate. 5 games unbeaten since we got shut of Stuart, you’re just moaning for the sake of it

I was no fan of the idea of appointing Sparks, but apart from the 12m extension for McCall, I can’t see what he’s done wrong so far. Rumour had it McCall wouldn’t claim the compensation for the extra year in his deal when he was fired.
Sacked McCall, got the recruitment head we were all shouting for, binned off BRE and Samuels, five games unbeaten, signed Canavan and a loan winger, I’m not in the camp of thinking Ryan’s the saviour like some prominent fans I can name, but I’m not sure what else he could have done above and beyond what he has.

Not saying he's done anything wrong but to start making out he's the second coming like @Keefly Bantam@Keefly Bantam does, is just stupid.

Let's see how we are in 12/18 months time.

What you have talked about are are mainly on the pitch things.

Talking out of your arse again. Giving someone credit for making changes that are affecting the clubs fortunes in a positive way is wrong in what way?

I quite agree that we should not see it as the 'second coming'. However, by the same token maybe you should also give it 12/18 months before regurgitating the same criticisms, we get your point.

I’m certainly not saying he’s the second coming, but he’s almost made as good a start as he could. Who knows where we will be in 12/18 months, Covid is closing in, we might have new owners and Sparks is history. Who knows? I’d give him the benefit of the doubt, success at this point is not getting embroiled in the relegation fight and making sure the summer recruitment is A1.

I would not worry about Stuart's finances, with him being bi -lingual(English/Scottish),he will get plenty of tv work.

Actions speak louder than words. I was far from a fan of Ryan Sparks and wondered how a guy who was a twitter poster would take to the job. The initial crap social media "We keep trying" garbage I was expecting the worst, but I will give credit where credit is due.

Getting rid of McCall, not tying us into a new manager whilst the caretakers are not only giving us time by steadying the ship but putting forward a reason to give them the job and the removal of BRE and Guthrie in the last few days has greatly improved my opinion of Mr Sparks. I hope I continue to be impressed.

Ryan Sparks made a mistake with Stuart. But he's quickly learnt. And he's doing what many posters on here have demanded for ages. Hire someone who knows the lower leagues transfer market 'under the bonnet'? Lee Turnbull appointed. Tick. Offload BRE and Guthrie? Tick. Sign a couple of young players with genuine pace? Stevens and Burrell. Tick. Bring in a BRE replacement with real experience? Canavan. Tick. Back up keeper for Hornby. Will Huffer. Tick. If it wasn't for Atkinson's form at BPA, he would have had more games. Bower really rates him, as did Leeds. Still more to be done before Jan 31st. Experienced GOALSCORING striker and a real badass DM. Yes, let's judge Sparks further down the line. But for now he's ticking all the boxes that fans have asked for.

The football club isn't a one man band! If it is that's a poor, poor club set up.

However, I am impressed with how we now seem to be making quick decisions to get rid of the players that are not producing for us.

I'm impressed we are trying to get into 2021 on how a football club should be set up but we still have a long way to go on that.

If you think a CEO should be making football decisions then I have to question how you think we ever become a big club.

In fairness though, it is the CEO's job to sign off on the final decisions. And they have to agree (or not) with the footballing decisions made for them.

    Not really. The owners.

The CEO has to run past the owner or owners.

Rubbish, do you think the CEO at Skipton Building Society has to seek permission of the owners (the "members" who invest and borrow) to make things happen, or that the CEO at L&G has to ask their owners (institutional investors) for the same.

The CEO's job is to be their mandate holder and I'm damn sure Sparks doesn't have to make a call to Germany to ratify decisions such as letting non scoring forwards and double decker bus turning circle centre halves go. He has a mandate and as long as he works within that Rupp will let him get on with it.

    Director of Football.

I'm worried about the prospect of being run by committee. I'm concerned what will happen if results go belly up on T&S, which is an incredibly real possibility, I'm worried about the transfer activity that is taking place without a permanent manager in place (although I'm not worried about the lads we shipped out, truth be told), and I'm worried about how Sparks achieves a sense of succession and long-term planning.

He's doing well with the issues commanding immediate and urgent attention; but we're four points off relegation. So far, only Turnbull represents a shred of long term thinking.
