Hopefully Anderson wins , don’t like the way price is so animated, seems disrespectful to his opponents to me.

But you're OK with footballers celebrating when they score despite the match not being over?

celebrating in football is a normal expression of joy with team mates and fans, Price seems to me to be intimidating his apponenent, but I may be old fashoined and behind the times, never really liked the boistrous atmosphere created at Ally Pally. I'm from the time when it was 'Quite please game on'

The "quiet please, game on" is why the BDO no longer exists though. Sport moves on and to create the excitement around darts they've created an atmosphere from the crowds.

I understand some won't enjoy it, certainly Mervyn King prefers silence when throwing but I bet none of the traditional types have a moan when picking up pay cheques that have gone up ten fold since the PDC was formed.

I've been all over watching the darts, I even had front row table tickets for the Rotterdam premier league double header that was cancelled this year and although there's one or two that take it too far now and again it's generally very well marshalled and the vast majority is good natured with plenty of humour.

Never understood the appeal of darts as a spectator sport. I used to love playing it, but watching it is just dull. Any sport that has to rev up a rowdy atmosphere in the crowd to make it watchable is pointless to me.

Pretty much every sport revs up the crowds these days? Apart from snooker maybe.

There's a difference between revving up the atmosphere to enhance the experience, and revving up the atmosphere because the sport is a total damp squib without it.

Darts was packed long before the PDC Days though, so your argument about the crowd doesn't wholly add up.

I get that you're not keen on watching the sport but credit where its due, the rise of darts in television audiences, attendances and ultimately prize money has been stratospheric.

Fair enough. Each to their own.
I used to be a pretty decent player. I loved the competition element, but also the personal challenge of getting more and more accurate. I could happily stand in front of a dartboard and practice for hours.
But watching it is just dull IMHO. It's basically the same thing, over and over and over again. I can watch it for a few minutes and admire the skill, but more than that bores the arse off me.

I've been twice to the premier league and its a good night out. Wouldn't mind going to Ally Pally for the worlds, it looks a right laugh. I think there are too many televised tournaments due to what @Offcomedun@Offcomedun touched on, its just the same game over and over again. Apart from the worlds no one cares who wins some tinpot silverware in a leisure centre in Rhyl.

All sport has the same problem though, you only have to look at football for that. Now there are multiple games on TV, every single day whereas before you'd be looking forward to "Super Sunday" or perhaps a champions league game midweek.

Popular sports have been diluted right across the board, to such a point that I understand why it's now becoming a turn off for most.

24 hour sports saturation has seen them televise anything. Even the commentary bores me to tears, the likes of Mardle scrutinising every last dart like its somehow important. It's a pair of non descript blokes throwing 3 little arrows at a board with numbers on. Take out the drinking and fancy dress and it's boring as feck.
