Recruitment help on the way

To be fair, he was sober as a judge and it was me that was semi drunk. It was only half time after all.

 

We definitely need help with recruitment/scouting, either to help McCall or his replacement. You decide on how you want to play and then recruit players to suit that system or systems in McCall's case. We probably need to stop talking about Mark Marshall but he highlights what I am trying to say really. He was practically a McCall signing because Phil Parkinson didn't really trust him but then under McCall he looked a good player because he suited his style of passing football, along with the likes of Law Cullen, McMahon and even Devine in the early part of the season.
I know some players were still under contract but he has signed too many lightweights for this league. With the exception of Novak, who is injured anyway, they are all easily bullied off the ball.
Look at Cheltenham, yes they have been together a while but their passing and movement is very good (it was last season as well) but the other thing I noticed is that they are all big strong lads, that hasn't happened by accident, that's down to recruitment.

 

Look, Marshal played 38 times in 2015/16. Ok, 30 were from the bench but it's not that Parky didn't trust him, it's just that he had a starting system and Marshall didn't fit it. Nothing wrong with that and something Stuart should really learn from instead of constant tinkering with his system.

 

Anyone seen or heard from Mark recently? Going to assume he’s very much hacked off with the club situation.

Also I’ve heard a rumour that our recruitment expert is a chap called Redin Achic

 

They got him for £10k in the end. The reality is that if you had scouts and data analysis that you could trust, you'd be more willing to make these decisions.

I keep in contact with Mark and yes he is as frustrated as the rest .of the fans

 

I shouldn't have even mentioned the Marshall thing because you've done what you always do, read the post and pulled out one part of it to pick away at.
My main point was about recruiting the right players for whoever the manager is. The last manager to do that was probably Chris Kamara, but he had a very good scouting system/contacts.
A lot of McCall's tinkering is down to bad recruitment followed by too many injuries.

 

It’s all gone very quiet on this which makes me think the guy we have or are using isn’t all that and we won’t be told as to not be let down?
Just a hunch with the way recent events have gone.

 

To be honest he (or she) can remain in the background and stay incognito, paid on commission or whatever, as long as they get us the players we need.

 

If it is Damion Irvine he's certainty had his ups and downs during his involvement with both rugby & football, and had ties with Rahic I believe.

 

Letting us down is the one thing the club has no qualms about.

Isn't that what we all do I agree about Kamara, he certainly brought in players that suited him and his style of play, but I would also have said that both Jewell & Parkinson were pretty good at that, even in terms of "bit players" like Ashley Westwood for Jewell and Marshall/ Hines/ Turgott for Parky. And the constant between them all is they got us promoted.

Very true. It probably started with Jennie Lawrence bringing in Kamara but Kamara had good contacts and a bit of money to spend bringing some quality players but also had Romeo Zondervan looking around Europe for players, some here short term who were nothing special but did okay.
At least we had some sort of scouting system then.
