Do you remember how bad it was under Rahic? Do we actually remember? We weren't finishing top half in ANY division with that clown in charge, whereas with him replaced we actually did. So that's a definite, concrete improvement in my book.

Do you remember the club saying it would be a few years before we fully turned the oil tanker round? Did that go out the window for a real reason, or just because we can't be bothered to wait that long?

Honestly, I get it, I'm not defending the club's transfer activity or tonight's result, I'm just saying it's only one result, I don't think we're worse than last season, I don't think last season was a catastrophe, I don't think this season will be a catastrophe, I don't think McCall is a worse manager than Bowyer, I don't think we've completed our transfer activity, I don't think it's helpful that McCall is SO eager to take his time, but whatever - top 7 isn't out of the window quite yet, and to say so is just confirmation bias from those who were adamant we had too many holes and hadn't improved (well who else has in League Two, and why are we so scared of other teams who are probably a worse time than we are?).

There's not enough data, that's basically what I'm saying, to start panicking, so I'm not. Sorry if that's not dramatic enough, but I'm not there yet. Will I be? If we are losing league games week in, week out, then yes, absolutely, I will be!

Wow, Stuart pretty livid with the questions being asked. Sounds like his hands are tied when it comes to signings, and he's sick and tired of being asked the question. Didn't like the game being called a shambles. Went over again about the strikers he's been in contact with. Said he's sick and tired of being asked about strikers, but where does he get a 20 goal a season striker from. Said he also needs a right back. Says he needs players that are gonna improve the club. Says he is doing his maximum to get players into the club, but can't get them in straight away from Prem clubs.
Proper angry and spitting words. Pretty honest answers from him, but he's definitely under pressure and it's showing.

 

Didn't Notts County get relegated the season after we beat them 2-0 at Wembley as well? They might just be really good at that, if I'm remembering that right.

it's not just one game though, so far this season we've failed to thoroughly trouble each side that we've played and only had 13 shots on target in four games.

McCall talks about how he wants teams to play; get hold of the ball, get it wide and get it into the box. we haven't really seen any of that so far apart from one goal Vs a poor Bolton side. what has he been doing in pre-season? he has said himself that's where the essence of a teams play is bred into them. so far we've seen no passages of play, no domination in midfield and tonight I gave up counting how many aimless balls were just played forward by a centre-half under no pressure at all. there's absolutely no structure or shape to the team.

if this is laying a marker down for the season ahead, as all teams should look to do from the off, then it's going to be a very poor season again. I hope he can bring some fresh faces in and get us playing but I honestly can't see it - not with the squad he has put together.. and this isn't a knee jerk reaction, it comes off how he ended his last spell and how the team have played since he returned. it's not good enough by a long way.

I do get that fans aren't getting what they want, but that doesn't mean they won't by the end of the season. It's not looking too likely, but if you ask me, one Carlisle reject was the difference between midtable and promotion under Parky, and if that's all it takes, who knows.

He’s been here long enough to have demonstrated that he’s not reliable, or consistent. Even in League 2. I’d go with a young lad who has some promise. If we’re going to be sh*t, lets at least try and grow something better in the process.

 

Depending on who you ask, Bolton had assembled a great team with Doyle, Sarcevic et al, we beat them, haven't scored against two League One sides (which is par for the course), and we drew with Colchester.

Our results against League Two sides are actually 1W, 1D.

Is that that bad?

 

Unlike The Pulse's tame questions in the past, enjoyed the probing tonight. Just hope McCall doesn't refuse to speak with them after our next disappointing defeat!

Sounds to me like he's run out of ideas after his four options turned us down and is now panicking because he knows our three are shite.

 

I like this new guy on Radio Leeds, his commentary on the game is good as well as his post match questions.
