I had a 'disagreement' with a Director at my place over this issue. I was dismantling an office chair at work and she asked what I was doing. I said I was taking a chair home with me, her response was "You're joking!". I explained my work space at home was going to be in my dining room and that I couldn't sit on a wooden dining room chair 7 hours a day 5 days a week. She wasn't happy at all but I wasn't going to give her a choice. :*@

We had a letter on Wednesday from Morrisons. Due to us supplying Morrisons/ASDA/Aldi etc. with labels for food and cleaning products we're classed as key workers. If I get stopped by the Police while out and about I have to produce the letter.

With cases and deaths still on the rise in the UK. I'd imagine the government will force non key businesses to close sooner rather than later.

the government need to grow a pair and produce a list of what is allowed to stay open and what isn’t. If whatever you do isn’t on it you either close or a quick appeal process as they are bound to miss something

I work in Finance and as such deemed a key worker. However, my stance on this is that we have helped hundreds of customers in the last 10 days or so, and now is the time we closed down for a period, as we can still help customers out via our website

I think a lot of the queries to finance will be around payment holidays. Companies should just say that all late payment fees are stopped, etc and then people would stop ringing

Quite happy with how the first day went. I was on the phone with those in work a fair bit trying to sort out discrepancies and errors. The wife managed to keep the distractions from the kids to a minimum so I got just as much done as I would have done in the Studio. When I finished at 5 there was no hour long journey home. I could get used to this! ;)

I've been working from home since last week, I'm not a huge fan but as @Frank Castle@Frank Castle it is saving me a lot of time.... The transport saving is good too!

Both my daughters are working from home at there individual properties and are getting more done (they say) than a normal day, although the eldest attends management meetings on a regular basis do either of you think it could be some something that each of your employers might extend to employees when things get back to normal.
They both work in Drighlington and usually commute via the M62 I'm sure you know what sort of nightmare that can be although it's a "smart motorway" very stressful I would think at peak times.

I don't think it's something my employer would extend, they seem to want us to go back as soon as possible. Their main issue is the lack of control in my opinion.

We have a facial recognition clock in system at work, obviously they can't keep a detailed record like that when we're working form home. Then there's the security cameras in the studio and offices, I often walk past a Directors office and see them scanning the videos to see if everyone has been working properly.

I'm sending progress reports to my manager and two directors at the end of each day and believe I'm still getting just as much done from home as i do at work, but I hear there are others who are doing a lot less.

on a serious note, if your director is watching CCTV footage to check if people are working I hope that that is registered with ICO, most firms just register crime prevention, not staff monitoring

It will be back to normal and in the office when we get back to normality. I genuinely think employers feel like they lose a part of control they have over employees when they work from home. I'd love to see more remote working though, maybe splitting the week into both working at the office and at home, I know in my job I don't need to be in the office 5 days a week!

That’s how I do it. 2 days at work and 3 at home. The weeks fly by

One of my colleagues in the studio was furloughed today, the first member of the studio staff to be given leave. As I thought, our place aren't topping up the extra 20% so should I end up getting furloughed I'll be on a reduced salary.

I feel a little bit jealous actually, especially with this weather (a beer or two in the garden during the day would be nice) and given we're spending naff all being stuck inside I could probably live off 80% for a month or two.

Still, at least I'm working from home and not having to go in. When there's not much to do I end up watching an episode or two of The Office (US) on Prime, I wouldn't be able to do that if I was stuck at work. :p

Office today and for the rest of the week but home when the need arises.

I have a freedom of balance to be in or out of the office as I wish.
