To even put Pep and Ole in the same breath is insulting

With unlimited funds and players like Kompany, Silva and Aguero already in the squad, probably not very.

Pep's an excellent coach if he has unlimited resources.

Unfortunately we'll never get to see how well he can do without being able to buy absolutely anything and anyone he wants.

Is the correct answer. Debate about success is welcome but ultimately pointless until the man at the top 100% believes in being ambitious and constructs a team below him that believes in that mantra.

Exactly! But it still took him two years to win the title. What a loser.

Something Pep will never have to think or worry about. His success and methods in gaining this determine he will never want for offers from the worlds top teams.

For what it's worth you're wrong about it being a resounding 'no'. As has been explained earlier, the spell of 3 consecutive top 3 finishes with Motherwell is worth credit and would have been enough to get an interview.

The problem is your argument has become unbalanced and anti-McCall. You're trying to portray yourself as balanced but you're not really.

The answer is if a manager became available who had 3 top 3 finishes in the SPL with a team that wasn't Celtic or Rangers then we'd be silly not to interview them. We may interview others too but we wouldn't turn down a manager for an interview with a decent recent record like that.

So yer, like you said, take the name off and then add in that recent record and you'll realise you're wrong as far as the interview is concerned. (for clarity, I'm not saying we would hire him but that wasn't your benchmark either)

With the set up he inherited at the Etihad I could have won the bloody Premiership in 2 seasons.

I am in no way balanced about McCall. I think it is a backward looking, mired in history, lazy appointment of a manager who has not proved in the English game that he has the ability to get teams over the line.

Yes he had a 3 year winning stint at Motherwell but that ended in the 2013-14 season. We employed him in 2020. Most football club chairman would not pay much attention to what someone did 6 years ago in a different league and of course they would also be looking at his final season where he left Motherwell second from bottom.

But giving him the benefit of the doubt I get why it got him his second stint here but not why that or his performance at Scunthorpe would get him a third stint which is the point I am making.

He is no longer some management newbie he has 13/14 years of direct, in charge management experience. He has been involved as a coach, full time, since 2004. So 16 years of full time coaching and management experience.

He is neither a new to the management game ex player we are going to give a chance nor a proven winner who has a resume to show he builds teams and gets them over the line. Add to this his appalling cup record in management (England) and I am convinced he might get in for an interview, big might but that' it.

Let's be frank there are a million managers out there who can't get work whose records are the equal and better of McCalls that we would howl about should they be appointed as our manager.

I think what is clear this is Stuart’s last chance at City he needs a good season and I for one am rooting for him he wouldn’t have been my choice because I think he has had enough chances but he is here and now be judged just as any other manager would be. If he were to gain success at city it would be a great thing so here is hoping

I can't agree that his second spell was a failure, we now know (many knew at the time) Rahic interfered with everything, I'm not suggesting he directly told McCall to play a certain way but I believe enough ex managers and players have passed comment about Rahics involvement on the football side.
He took us to Wembley, something Phil Parkinson could not achieve, then anyone with any sort of football knowledge would have expected the owners to enhance the squad for another crack at getting out of league one.
Not our "I know football" Rahic did exactly the opposite and would not resign players McCall was happy to keep, then not only did he build a squad good enough to go I believe 7 points clear of 7th place at one time but in the top 4 until just before his sacking.
As we know and I hope every Bradford City fan accepts, Rahic was waiting for Stuart's first poor spell, yep he had a bad spell with regards his previous 20 or so games but Rahic was never going to give him the sort of support Mark & Julian gave Phil.

Perfect job for him would be Sporting Director.

I'm not convinced he will cut it as manager but I would love him too and he has my backing.

I just didn't like how he was going on about 20 different tactics and getting his Ipad to look at players. I think in modern day football Rhodes has giving in far too much responsibility.

Problem is when McCall goes in a poor spell he struggles to get out of it. Like the mate act doesn't work then.

He needs to get it right this season...No excuses.

I asked earlier in the week for a few names who you would have appointed instead of McCall but you haven’t said yet - any update please?
