Just interested if anyone knows what the deal is with JCT? How much do they pay for sponsorship and how long is the current contract?

A good mate of mine over here in Tallinn, owns "Sportsbet.io" who this season were the shirt sponsors of Watford. Prior to Watford, he was looking at Leeds, but as their season last year fell apart, he switched to Watford because he wanted his company on a Premiership teams shirt. Of course, now roles have been reversed, and its Leeds exchanging places with Watford. Which means Sportsbet.io are back interested again.

Leeds are asking 12m euro for shirt sponsorship for one season. I've no idea if this is a huge sum for the Prem (he seems to think it is, and it's much more than he paid Watford), and it got me thinking, what have the numbers been for each season we've been with JCT. Are these numbers released?

Just wondering if JCT are competitive and give us the best deal, or are we being loyal cos JT is on the board (completely understand if that's the case.)?

Gambling firms will be banned from sponsoring shirts very soon so I’d suggest your pal looks elsewhere

He's just built a very nice cricket ground and sports complex here in Tallinn. Perhaps his next focus will be to do a Beckham and invent a team for himself to sponsor :)

You ever met Jack? The club are probably paying him for being on the shirt.

By all accounts the Average in league 1 is £200k a year and League 2 its just under half of that.

I would imagine City are at the higher end of League 2 clubs due to a combination of being one of the better know clubs at this level and also having the highest combined attendance by a long way for their games.

You might be giving them a deal out of loyalty but it's not going to be a massive amount

I honestly think JCT are still our sponsors as he will always offer to renew so unless someone offers more they will stay but I don’t think there was any competition last time when Edin was here

Back in 1996-ish G.R was in touch with Morrison’s about potential shirt sponsorship. At the time at least 3 of the main board were season ticket holders. It didn’t pass the vote.

JCT signed up taking over from Diamond Seal.

maybe @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler can add to the story

You are partially correct, Tyneside. There were 2 of us on the Main Board who were avid fans and Season Ticket holders. We still are, I think 25 yearers. We both got promoted to the Board at the same time, my colleague Martin Ackroyd was F.D. The bit about GR is not correct as far as I recall, what was the case was that every year Martin and myself made representations as to sponsorship but the answer was always..."fine but what do we do about the Bulls, Park Avenue and other clubs where we are being approached because we have stores there". In the end it was always the case that better to not do anything than upset some, plus at that time we were not the biggest in our sector and certainly not national and we had to watch our money as we were spending big on expansion.
As a sort of compromise we did sponsor some games and took tables at some events, all down to us respecting the work Alan and Chris Gilliver did at the club.
Our only major sponsorship was when we acquired Safeway in 2004 and inherited their massive deal with the Scottish F.A. but when that contract expired we did not renew.
Other deals have been minor, connected to and part of other things, for example ad boards at Falkirk after I bought the old ground, 2 year deal allowed to expire. There were several others like that but minor.
The over riding rule was that we were in too many locations so to avoid upset, do nothing.
I don't know if that is still the case but suspect the Board of today has no BCFC fans among its' number, David Potts the CEO is an avid Man City Season Ticket holder and Jon Burke the Company Sec. is a Leeds fan, other than that, who knows.

I think this very wise of Morrisons. I was a big fan of Panasonic back in the day but as soon as they started sponsoring Huddersfield they never got another penny off me.

Great insight but smacks of an excuse not to spend local.

What would be wrong sponsoring City & Bulls for example and Park Ave?

Maybe, I find it poor Morrisions don't support their local sport clubs. Smacks of a business that lost it's roots!!

Still not to do it is poor!

To be honest i wouldnt have thought the bulls would have given two hoots about morrisons..werent they one of the reasons that one of the odsal redevelopment plans went down the pan as they objected to a tesco being built on the site? Conveniently forgeting a tesco was only another 1/4 mile down halifax road anyway.

    Morrisison look after themselves.

I heard that they threatened to leave Bradford if they didn't get their way on the head office development.

They oppose many things involving Tesco's I believe but there is a reason why Audi are near a Morrisions...Think about it.

For me poor excuses not supporting your local football team! Poor.

You've made many a statement of being a very astute businessman and noticed in another thread you have properties around the world (cough cough) maybe you should approach the club about a spot of sponseership with being a local business.

I used to be the brand manager of Carling when I was working in the UK (Burton on Trent). We had similar feelings about sponsoring Rangers, and it was only at the last minute we pulled the deal off to sponsor Celtic too. Both sponsorships announced at the same time. Would have been commercial suicide to sponsor one but not the other.
