A bit random , but just wondering if anyone on here has any memories of this?

Just reading about it for the first time. Amazing story.

Was a Jazz and Blues festival , never went but i think it was plagued by bad weather ( nothing new ) . I remember Skipton holding similar 1s , i saw Fairpot Convention at Skipton 70 ish at a 2 day festival in and near the Castle .

Yes, I read that it had to be abandoned because of the weather. A freak storm hit it, enough to demolish drystone walls.

100s of people had to be treated for exposure.

Sounds like the whole thing was a complete shambles though. No one got paid.

I was once in a re-enactment group ( The Sealed Knot ) , mainly in my school days we appeared at events all over the country many were attatched / in conjunction with folk festivals . Folk was an aquired taste at the time , but after a few noggins of ale was fun to sing-a - long to and even try the odd ( very ) dances of the Civil war period .

No memories of this, nor have I ever heard of it before.

Mind you, I have no interest in Country, Jazz or Folk music though

Pink Floyd were supposed to play apparently, on the Saturday night, but they found out they would not be paid so did not turn up.

Elton John was paid £75 for his appearance on the Friday.

Never heard of this one. Certainly passed me by.

My youngest daughter does Ashley Hutching’s website though. He’s a nice guy, usually go to see him in the Albion Christmas Band with Simon Nichol.

Interesting that you mention the Sealed Knot as my late sister was also a member for many years and also attended the ill fated Krumlin festival.
After the biblical storm which wrecked the site I remember going with my Dad to pick her and her mate up from near Halifax as they were walking home.
There was a feature in the T&A fairly recently about the festival.
