I am not disputing that McCall would prefer to bring in his own players in any position, however, getting rid of contracted players he doesn't want, would be an issue for financial reasons, I would have thought. For example, I would love to see us bring in a beast of a centre half such as the available Michael Bostwick, but cannot see him bringing any players in apart from midfield players and a right back, and a keeper if O'Donnell doesn't accept new contract

Seems a while since we've had a decent centre back.

The O'Connors, Richards-Everton and French are simply not good enough as a quartet to get us out of this league.

We need to make players available. Do what we can to shift some on. It's tough but not impossible.

Burke was the last proper decent one. Davies before him.

Burke was far too good for league 1, as was Davies when fully fit. Our three main ones now are league 2 at best. Paudie O'Connor has been woeful this this season.

I couldn't agree more. I wish, and more to the point I bet McCall wishes, that we had more or less a blank canvas to work from this summer.

Connor Wood aside, the whole lot of them could have gone this summer for me, however, it is what it is, but still hope we can somehow shift some on, but I am not optimistic we will manage to do so

This is the thing; Burke and Davies were miles too good for League 1/2, but now we're expected to easily find players who are equally well above the standard.

    Totally unrealistic.

I'd definitely keep Paudie, he's got potential, not quite there yet though, and Anthony O'Connor was performing to a high standard last season, and I do not rate the guy at all.

BRE didn't have the best season, and there's something wrong when Connor Wood is bailing the back four out with last ditch challenges every other week.

That said, we aren't going to be transforming the team this Summer.

We've had a few players who had potential, the likes of Billy Knott spring to mind. OConnor needs to step up this year, another season like the last one and we might as well let him go. Worryingly next season has the feel of a consolidation season about it. Which would mean at least a third season stuck in league 2. Trying not to think about it.

I agree, Paudie needs to step up and deliver as a first teamer. He looked better when he was on loan in League One than he did last season.

I don't know what to expect next season. Wage cap or not, it does look like we have an overly expensive small group of players, which might be why Stuart was talking about only bringing in loans.

Unfortunately I don't see Vaughan, Donaldson, Novak and McGuthrie being cheap, and yet not one of those strikers is scoring enough goals without a good midfield. They'll score if they get service, but reinventing the midfield (which we have no choice about, we don't have one as it stands) AND reinforcing the back line seems a bit of a stretch.

It doesn’t have to be a consolidation season remember that because of this virus all teams are going to have their troubles and I think because of the McBurnie money we will be in a better position than most

Stuart has inherited a threadbare Squad, those who remain are at best, a mismatch of a group.

Four forwards, three of whom are now in the twilight of their careers and the other to convince.

Four centre backs, including Paudie and Tyler French, who Again have to convince.

Jackson Longridge, Reece Staunton and Sam Hornby are three more of the squad of 14.

Zeli Ismail always seems to be injured.

The squad size is going to be drastically reduced. According to Stuart, “I would probably say we are looking for a squad of 22-23, so it might not be a case of a raft of signings”. Apparently, “...we’re adding four young lads getting promoted from the youth team”. He has publicly stated City might only sign five players. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/18502293.bradford-city-might-sign-five-players-says-mccall/

On that basis I struggle to see how any one can have confidence in the current situation.
