There was a spike in tests done or sent out nationally at the start of June (See 4-colour histogram half way down first link.) Some places will have seen a rise in positives because they had a rise in tests. Is this government operating on dodgy data again? There's been no consistency in testing. If there's been a spike in actual cases, why has there no spike in in Tier 1 positives that the Leicester Health Authority is getting. They are still getting 5 or 6 per day (+0.2% per day). Surely if there was a problematic spread in the area, it would show up in hospital testing?

What's happened in Leicester is happening elsewhere but it's all getting more difficult to follow due to erratic testing. This source I've been following continues to show very slowly falling positives in Yorkshire hospitals (Tier1). Surely this is what counts - fewer Covid-19 case being found in hospitals. Only 21 yesterday:

    https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/news/leeds-news/21-new-cases-coronavirus-yorkshire-18504262

Then we have the histogram in the Leicester article below showing Tier1 and Tier 2 testing which shows a rise of about 1/4 in positives in Yorkshire and Humberside in the latest week 18-24th of June from the week before.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-53217095

Now Tier 2 testing numbers been increasing overall but have been rather erratic. If more people are testing positive, is it just more testing or is there actually more cases in reality outside of hospitals? If positives rose 1/4 from 11th-17th to 18th-24th in Tier 2 testing, why are Yorkshire hospital numbers still falling gently now? It the virus getting weaker? Are positives happening in younger people that don't get ill?

Why would the goverment lockdown/delay relaxation of lockdown in Leicester if Tier 2 positives were rising but there seems to be no related rise in hospitals now? Will they do the same elsewhere where Tier 2 cases have remained high - Bradford, Sheffield and NE Manchester (See figure 9) - even though hospital positives suggest decreasing cases?

    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/895356/Weekly_COVID19_Surveillance_Report_w26.pdf

Interestingly, this online self-reporting map shows a slight rise in 4 regions - just south of Leicester, Blackpool, Anglesey, and West Dumbartonshire. Rural and holiday areas were always going to be likely for flare-ups as we unlock, with their lower accumulated infections to date.

    https://covid19.joinzoe.com/data

Do we need to local lockdowns if the overall trend remains down? If Leicester has had a flare-up 3 weeks ago, why has it not spread into hospitals or other regions shown 3 weeks later? Why lockdown again if no more people seem to be getting hospitalised from these modest increases in infections (yet)? Could it be overreaction again?

More questions than answers, I'm afraid.

Is there any date set for a meeting of the EFL to consider when league two will start again. I can’t find any information on it

There's more chance of getting a decision from the EFL with Dave Baldwin running it, who knows we might have something to look forward to ;).

2 weeks...3 times more cases than anywhere else.

Problem is no doubt the some people in Leicester will be travelling to other places. Don't get how you control it without people doing a Cummings.

Well Leicester City Council is a Labour council, so they will have their quarantine extended and then they'll be asked why they inevitably need funding and why things have been handled so badly.

Unlike in Texas, where the White House has pledged to make sure they have everything they need.

I think we're going to see a lot of arbitrary, politically-oriented shenanigans now that the virus is nowhere near pandemic proportions.

A bit like Starmer who was asked again For at least the tenth time today if schools should be back in September and once again failed to answer because he is in the pockets of the teachers union.

It's a bit silly answering that at the moment, particularly when you aren't in control. Schools in Leicester are now closed as of Thursday, nobody in the government said that would happen seven days ago, let alone three months ago.

Any journalist found baying for an answer in a situation like this clearly only intends to use that answer against you at a later date.

He doesn't need to answer that question.

You just don't get it do you!

The government said all kids will she thei teacher for a month Not happening.

The government have said ALL kids will return in September. You have to be a god damn idiot to believe this government and it carries out that it says.. so come September when not all kids will go back to school unless social distancing is scrapped then Labour benefits.

Keir isn't PM.. he doesn't need to get on the Boris train! Only a fool would do tha now.

The governments misinformation, confusing information, all seemingly deliberate in how blatantly obvious it is, points towards them wanting herd immunity without them coming across as being culpable for negligence if they mess it up. They'll say they were advised to do this and that by the science and so called experts. Plausible deniability.

No talk of stopping people from Leicester traveling elsewhere. In Labour mentioned about people from Leicester travelling to Bradford & other places and Hancock ignored the question.

But surely the same could be said of the politicians in opposition constantly calling for details of forward plans, when schools will be reopened, when shops reopen, when..... As you say things are still changing so giving details and dates can only be used to beat you later when it changes

As part of the labour movement he should be telling the unions to put the national interest first

But that's what the conservatives keep on doing. Putting times on things and saying stupid things like having a world beating track and trace app!

Anyone that still currently rates this government is an idiot! Forgot their competition. Judge the government and they're an utter joke!

14 million people made a mighty mistake and the only hope is that Boris is replaced internally within 4 years.

63 days not going on GMB or Channel 4 because they are cowards and weak! The UK is a world laughing stock at this moment
