Our squad under Bowyer was ridiculously too big.

Just trying to think wouod 20 players would work for us though. A lot of matches in lower leagues when you thinking about Micky mouse competition like the Bantam Talk Cup or whatever its called to get to Wembley.

Wasn't the saying you should have two decent players for every position?

Ideally yes. But money will dictate all. I think most clubs will carry smaller squads, fill it out with youth where needed, and quite possibly seek for a relaxation of the loan rules, allowing players to move on loan more often, to more clubs, and outside of transfer windows.

Seeing as our current "strikeforce" consists of the injury prone Novak, the unseen Guthrie and the couldn't hit a barn door from 5 yards Donaldino then City NEED a relaxation of the loan rules and move them on asap/pronto.

Now then, which league clubs would like to get these players?

I don't know SM's thinking and remember he inherited the size of the current squad. PP used to work on 23 with the prospect of the loan market (as the rules were then) to cover for injuries and that size squad, or thereabouts played 64 games in 2012/13. In my view 20 is not enough and we have seen the short comings of smaller in the past, e.g. playing McBurnie and others when they weren't ready.

When McCall came back in, he commented on the squad being far too big.

I agree with you mate around 23/24 is right and us the loan market correctly like Parky did.

It's ok some saying full the squad with youth players but like you make the point with McBurnie, these players need to ready and then if they're ready the big clubs come along with offers.

As a fan I am struggling with the EFL right now. I don't get it.

Seems to me we are talking about wage caps and loan market etc but not talking about the three most important things 1) How do we get div 2 back 2) How are clubs going to pay for testing 3) how do we plan to get crowds back and in what capacity.

The wage caps, loans etc don't matter if we can't over come the problems of today.

Goes back to the lack of leadership, doesn't it @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler?

If I was there I would be setting out plans like what pubs and airlines are doing to highlight how it would work. It's like we are ignoring what PL clubs have to do just to get back to training.

This government doesn't follow science at all and you need to come with things to get them thinking like Wetherspoon and airlines have done today.

I'm not advocating the approach, I'm talking about what clubs may be forced to do purely from a financial perspective.

Got that pal.. for me div 2 are talking about buying bricks without dealing with the foundation. I have no clue how it plans to pay for testing etc

Premier League saying they are as confident as they be about a June return.
Can't see that happening until the hairdressers re-open.

    Stay Safe everyone.

You have no credentials to make that assertion. Jeez you are posting about every 20 seconds today. Who is running your imaginary car wash?

Trying too mate... getting hard now. Supermarkets are a joke. Use the government to stay open and when you're inside they don't care. The queuing outside is for display. Right now the most dangerous place to go too is your local supermarket by far.

This government is stupid. This is why I am saying that league 2 need to put something together on how it intends to operate and it will get passed.

Stay safe mate.. hope the family is well. We have 12/18 months of this nonsense at least.

Why? Any particular evidence one way or the other? Genuine question not loaded.

Perhaps one to add, Burton Albion https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52721069 looks like they have issues, sure @Fordy117@Fordy117 can make an educated(Ish) comment. ;)

Perhaps could add Charlton to the list of 10 clubs.... Problems with current owner about funding after the controversial Belgian...
