I don't know to be honest. I dont think I've seen anything about the time limit of contagion.

But even if it is. How many people will they infect in that initial 7 days that they wouldn't have done under lockdown? It can't be less. It has to be more?

My point was more if they were infected when the peak was (pointing to mid April currently) then they will have had it and not passed it due to lockdown?

we have a lot of work to do no doubt about it. But we have from it overwhelming hospitals and building nightingales from early March to now no longing needed them which to me suggests it is fading. Yes lockdown has helped and there is a risk of it blowing up again but if we get it controlled it won’t. So that has taken almost 10 weeks? For a dramatic turnaround. Why would 5 months be no better? With limits on what people can and can’t do in between?

I don't think it's that lockdown has helped to be honest. It's more that lockdown has directly caused the drop.

There was something on the BBC the other day that suggested that there were still 150,000 infected people on the UK. let's be positive and say that's wrong by 100%, even 75,000 people being infected will cause carnage without a lockdown and immunity.

10 weeks of lockdown has brought it down to that number of cases. How would 5 months of freedom reduce that? The more freedom = the more infections, I dont see how that can't be true and you can't track and trace tens of thousands of people especially when they value their privacy and freedom.

Anyway. We're getting off the point.

By autumn we either need to have the possibility of crowds (not gonna happen) a vaccine (not gonna happen) or the PL offering to give money to League 2 (even less likely than the first 2) otherwise there ain't gonna be football at our level.

We are away from the point. The key issue is going to be some form of bailout. Football will not be with crowds for at least 5 months minimum from when it finished to When it resumes in our league. That’s too long.

Here are my questions about next season in League One and Two...

Clubs will have significantly less money, if any at all, to invest in their squads. I'm almost certain that wage offers will bottom out at most if not all League One/Two clubs, other than 'canny' chairmen with the finances to offer better wages and therefore get first dibs... (we're watching, MacAnthony...)

However, those clubs with numerous players who still have valid contracts will presumably be paying them more than they're offering new recruits.

Will those players under contract become universally unpopular, or will they be pressured into taking pay cuts?

Well the Palace chairman and Peterborough chairman both made interesting points about ending the end cost v playing and finishing the season.

German league said that they wanted to finish because it would support the lower league teams.

However, in England we have the bottom 6 moaning and looking after themselves. A bail out from the PL will only happen if football can be restarted. No chance the PL do if it doesn't. The government will point to Furlough. EFL & FA clearly don't want too.

Bradford and Porr Vale voting for the season to end knowing full well play offs are meant to happen makes me think also next season isn't happening.

Prelimanary discussions have been held with some chairman of league 2 clubs about a restructuring of the division that would see a merge between league 2 and the National League on a regional basis and turn them into league 2 North and South.

Very radical, and if happened, it would feel to me like we were playing non league football.

So we might be playing the likes of Harrogate, Gateshead and Stockport next season!

This would make promotion harder, with only one club from each section gaining automatic promotion, and 1 from each section via playoffs

That's radical and looks a slightly simplified version of the Bundesliga structure - three national pro divisions and a fourth regional level with a mixture of mainly pro and a few semi pro clubs. It has all kinds of ramifications beyond the promotion issue for solidarity payments, broadcasting rights etc which are so important to Div 1 and 2 clubs.

Where have you read about it?

What an enthralling prospect. Although with the shite served up by league 2 football maybe it is time to just go with two or three professional leagues in this country and make the rest semi professional. Certainly the wage structure if there is a merger would see a lot of clubs unable to field a full time professional outfit. Football has needed a restructure for some time, i just wish it wasn't us that was part of it.

It is in the Daily Mail this morning. They are usually good with their sport articles. There is also a very good read about Bury, and how the supporters are split between Steve Dale's plan to apply for membership of the National League, and a group of supporters who have formed a phoenix club AFC Bury and looking to apply for memebership of the North West Counties league

At times like this the ground rent is an additional strain for us .

The momentum with our attendances is surely lost now, bang average (at best) players in a new post virus reconstructed set up, best guess 6,000 regular supporters...

That's the better option which would return us to where we were when I first started watching.
    PL, formerly Division 1.
    Championship, formerly Division 2.
L1 North, formerly Division 3 North.
L1 South, formerly Division 3 South.
Leave the rest of the pyramid as is with less promotion and pyramid returning to part time, there is no way clubs as far down as York City should be full time it is just not sustainable in my view.

How does York currently manage to sustain a full-time, pro team in the second tier of the national league?

No thanks to the regionalised leagues. Although I’m no fan, I could just about stomach it if it were league 1 and 2. But getting bunched up with a bunch of non league outposts with only a 1 in 24 chance of automatic promotion just about kills it for me.

And by it I mean football. I watched a Bunderliga game yesterday and it was garbage without fans there, I’m hoping behind closed doors will highlight to all sporting clubs just how important crowds are to any sport. Something like this will just drive people away.

Jason McGill keeps putting money in or underwriting debt as he has for some years now, since their last L2 years.
