No. But several big retail chains are already saying that they won't be paying their rents due this month to their landlords in an attempt to put some pressure on the Govt to do what you suggest. Some chance!

Maybe it's the right time for Rhodes and Gibb to bury the hatchet and have a 1-2-1 on this and come to some kind of agreement for the short and medium term. ;)

But how can clubs pay these extended contracts with no income? Better for the government to pay them 80%.

I've no idea how clubs will be able to pay the extended contracts and I suspect they'll struggle without either Govt support, financial support from the club's owners or some deal with the sport's big wealthy sponsors, Sky and BT.

Issues of rental payments are purely a matter for Landlord and Tenant and nothing at all to do with Government, so no is the answer.
What the government have done both in the Budget Statement on 11th March and the Chancellor's subsequent statement during the Coronavirus Press Conference last Thursday is to reduce to zero Business Rates on certain classes of property, including shops (in our case the City Shop) and property associated with the Leisure and Hospitality industry (possibly covering the Stadium).
I have already taken action on this but the matter of rent is another subject, however rest assured the Club is aware.

I wondered if a form of rent ‘holiday’ would be the way forward? Perhaps City extending the 25 year lease by another 12 months, but given these very difficult times this could be a balanced way forward for the club and the Gibbs pension fund.

No, but I shocked the YP even bothered writing that at this moment.

Yes, all clubs will be looking a potential players on YouTube and many talking to them but no one knows where clubs will be financially at the end of this and I am including Bradford City in that.

Leeds have miles more money than us and look at what they're doing.

If football doesn't get playing soon then it could be YP writing about Yorkshire clubs going to the wall.

They have a very rich owner who should invest to see them through this difficult time.
I'm sure you'll agree with that comment as it the one you trot out about Rupp every time finance is brought up at Valley Parade.

Silly Fact (I think): I believe I'm the only Bradford City supporter to have seen Norman Hunter play for us in a match.

And I think I'm the only City supporter who has played in the same team as Roy McFarland and Mick Jones.

this but the matter of rent is another subject, however rest assured the Club is aware.
In my career I built a huge estate with a significant annual rental income through development I had carried out. This included shopping malls, retail parks, industrial estates, takeaway food units, even Doctor's surgeries. In the period we experienced probably three hard financial downturns and my approach, supported by my fellow Directors was always an occupied property on lower or nil rent was better than an empty one which was not re-lettable.
I introduced rental holidays, i.e zero rent payable for an agreed period or proportional rents, i.e. half rent for a period. Generally it worked and was welcomed by the Tenants.
All of this is for the period leading to the next rent payment date in June but rest assured JR and me to an extent are over this, we have been in touch several times over the last week and a half.
    Thanks for the thought though.

I assume that was during his time at Valley Parade as Terry Yorath's number 2 ?.

One factor which I think is being overlooked is that the government is doing everything possible to prevent a spike in the number of cases which would overwhelm the NHS. In other words the aim is to prolong the crisis as long as possible so that it can be contained. It is inconceivable that this approach will allow the season to continue after April 30th or even at all.

Yes, it was Limmared (Sweden) away in a pre-season friendly in 1989. It was City's last match away in a six match tour of Sweden. All the other City fans had to leave after the fifth match, to get the ferry back in time for a home match two days later. Because I'd flown over I was able to get back in time after the sixth match.

City had a few minor injury problems, so they were struggling to make up the numbers. The final place on the bench came down to Norman Hunter or me and (for some strange reason) Terry picked Norman and he got a run out in the second half.

Still, I was treated as part of the squad for the evening, attending the post-match meal with our hosts and travelling back to Gothenburg on team coach (there a few untold stories from that). I've still got the badge that the host club gave out to each member of the squad.

That was the closest I ever got to playing for my team. It means I can always say how, if I'd got on, I would have scored a screamer from 35 yards whereas, of course, I would have probably made a complete fool of myself.

So let's all not go back to work or shut our businesses then.

PL clubs are talking about June. That month hasn't come from them second guessing. It would of come as a possible date from the government.

12 weeks has been talked about with Boris and I know people who are high up in the financial world and they say June also.

We all just have to follow the rules and they will be a spike in May but the curve should reduce in June and that's when normality for some of us not over 70's will kick in to a degree.

With all the riches the Premier league clubs they can afford to put a full squad and staff in quarantine for 6 weeks if they want to allow them to play behind closed doors.
How does the efl do that?
And aren’t there now rules about amount of medical staff that have to be at the game? Who provides them across the country to allow football to be played if we can’t even keep people out of hospital?
