Yeah that’s a start should help. EFL will have the problem to decide if they will be scrapping the season or the completion of the fixtures.

They are “determined to finish the season” which of course they should be. Whenever that will be

"The EFL has stressed its commitment to finishing the 2019-20 season "in order to protect competition integrity."

Seems like they have not yet grasped the seriousness of the situation....

I think they are well aware of the situation. But at some stage the country will emerge from this and in the interest of fairness they want to finish this season before moving on

By the time football resumes in any meaningful way, some clubs may well have gone under, others will have completely different squads, some stronger, some weaker, so it will never be possible to finish this season.

Yes, they could play the outstanding fixtures, but it is likely we would see some completely bizarre results given the vastly different squad strengths by then.

This season is over. True, they could cobble together a set of results to 'complete' the fixtures, but it will no more fair than writing this season off or playing the remaining fixtures on some computer game.

This season isn't over at all. Think people are confusing matters.

Nest season can change and start at anytime.

If we all stay at home for the next year then forget football, you will be on the streets with your family.

The world will have to get out of lockdown at some stage. Football can be played behind closed doors if required.

Season is far from over and yes this is awful but it can't last forever.

    Football suspended until April 30th.

However, the seasons extended indefinitely meaning this season will finish

Today's Yorkshire Post saying NL and Conf North and South need £20 mill so this is a drop in the ocean and won't save a number of lower clubs given the skewed distribution engineered and bull dossed through by Richmond.

It's barely a start unfortunately. There is no new money being provided to the EFL clubs. It is money clubs would have received anyway as part of the solidarity arrangements.

Part of the money is simply paying the final two instalments of this season's solidarity payment a little earlier. The other part is a loan which can be raised now against next season's solidarity payment. Although this will be helpful for some clubs with short term cash flow issues, it won't recompense them for lost matchday revenues. The one thing that is clear from this is that neither Sky, the PL nor the EFL are digging into their own well lined pockets to support the lower league clubs in these difficult times.

100%.. when you hear people like Karen Bardy say end the season you know that you're in trouble beacuse she has no intentions of thinking about lower league clubs.

The problem is the FA are powerless
The PL think about the PL
The EFL clearly when called upon now are not doing enough.

This isn't a 2 month thing it, it's looking like a 6 month - 12 month thing ( sorry to all that's buzzing off Simon Parkers bit in the T & A). Salford have planned for 6-12 months.

Clubs will go to the wall if more isn't done by the PL, EFL, Sky, BT, bookies, other tv companies.

We need sport back but I feel it will be back behind closed doors which is fine for PL and Championship but what about div 1 and 2? More needs to be done for lower league clubs.

Indeed. I'm sure there will be casualties in the lower leagues as a result of this epidemic. There are too many clubs living hand to mouth who simply cannot absorb this kind of shock and football's governing bodies as usual are doing sweet FA about it. The finances within the football pyramid are completely out of kilter and it's taken this crisis for a few to realise this. Unfortunately once again, nothing is happening to change the structure of how the riches of football are distributed on a more equitable basis.
