Their results have really picked up in recent weeks and they are flying back up the table. This isn't the soft away fixture it looked two or three weeks ago. I know they brought in Mullin from Tranmere, who scored in the FA Cup vs Watford but was surplus to requirements once they loaned Vaughan (I don't think Tranmere have scored since Vaughan went there though lol) and he scored the second goal in their win last night. Other than that, not sure who else they brought it. Should be a tough one this, especially given the weather, but at least with Stuart at the helm we have the possibility of at least getting wins on the board away from home again.

That was Stuart criticism of him actually in the post match. He said he'd told McCartan to stay central but he kept drifting out wide.

Tough game ahead here given their mini revival following the change in manager. I’d be tempted to stick with the same team that started on Tuesday although maybe bring Cooke back into CM if he’s fit.

Been dry down here mostly so should be fine for Saturday. Could be windy though with Dennis swooping in over the weekend.

Looking forward to my first match in a while.

A few doubtful on Saturday due to injuries, although McCall not naming those in doubt. I suspect Cooke will be one of them though

This is potentially a HUGE game if we can get the win as it would mean:

    - First away win in god knows how long
    - First consecutive league victories of 2020
    - Back in the play off positions

Huge, huge game. Come on City.

A win would not guarantee we would be back in play off position

I suspect that with Cooke very unlikely, it will be the same team as Tuesday apart from Donaldson for Guthrie.

I would be considering Connolly for Guthrie as we would have pace on the counter with:

    Connolly, DMH and Novak.

433? In this case do you drop McCarten?

It's a tough one as McCartan did score 2 but for me his overall game was poor and he doesn't follow instructions.

So far in the 2 games under McCall(early days I know) I don't see us controlling games but we are trying to pass it about, so for me I think pace on the counter is extremely important right now until we can start controlling games and having more quality in our play.

Not sure how fast Middleton is but the more I think about this match more I think Connolly, DMH and Novak have to start with Middleton coming on later(if fast)

I'd have a player who scores 2 goals (regardless of what he does the rest of the game) over a player with lightening pace but no end product any day of the week.

I know mate and I have stated how Connolly has no end product & fairly poor but now we have some more added pace in the team I think away from home teams will be a little scared.

It's tough because in the 1st half on Tuesday we were mighty poor and if we play like that we lose.. simple as.

I am hoping that they have learnt the lesson from that 1st half debacle!!

It’s a fair shout, and on what should be a better pitch and being away from home, the chance to counter attack with pace is a threat.

That said, when McCartan plays he is one of the only players we have who either finds themselves in a position to have an attempt on goal or looks for the opportunity to do so. It’s something we and both past and present managers have eluded we are not doing enough. Also given he is one of our better finishers and he comes on the back of two goals in the previous game, I feel he has to start tomorrow.
