Yes and I have been in touch with both the EFL and Colchester regarding the timings of asking for a cancellations of fixtures EFL could not give a shit they said we can cancel games on the day if required in other words supporters are none existent, Colchester not much better there answer is well you can come when it’s rearranged. I just hope that it’s single figures that turn out at Colchester from the City supporters no way will I visit this club again not for the rules that allow them to do this but they will have known for weeks about these players having international commitments and should have given some indication as the possibility of the game being cancelled long before now.

I must admit that it seems appalling that the game has been called off less than 10 days before it was scheduled.

If Colchester had an idea that this was a possibility, then they should have delayed the release of tickets until they were clear one way or the other about call ups

Some these players are not even regular starters for Colchester, which makes it even worse!

    Brandon Comley, (Montserrat), 15 (2)

    Luke Gambin, (Malta), 5 (12)

    Callum Harriott, (Guyana), 2 (3)

Really the EFL has a responsibility in these matters and perhaps needs to look at the schedule of games, if they clash with international matches.

Cannot believe that players that hardly feature can cause a postponement, absolutely ridiculous.

Brilliant news. Hotel and train tickets down the pan.

Best way to repay Colchester is get your game tickets money back and boycott the night fixture. only 100 or so hard core city fans will turn up. Major loss of revenue for Colchester.

Gutted for all those who pre booked travel costs etc.

In this day and age why can't you guys get your money back?

Surely if you paid by card you are protected for an event being cancelled outwith your control?

I paid my hotel by credit card but the deal was from Premier Inn no amendments or cancellations so don’t really know how you stand with a credit card payment

As fans, we need to impose a ban on ever visiting their ground again. Hit them in their pocket where it counts. Tinpot clubs like Colchester rely on clubs like us to boost their coffers with a large away following.

I am right behind you. Can you organise a fly bye for the rearranged game?
Lets show them we mean business.

At the last international break Comley and Gambin played for their countries and Colchester played a league match that weekend in which Harriott did not feature.

In fairness, Harriott has been injured most of the season and returned a few week back. But still, it's a naff rule by the EFL but it's something teams take full advantage of, including us not so long ago. I'm sure it was Blackpool at home, we postponed when we had the likes of Cullen, Evans, Burke & McArdle missing and we did on the Monday or Tuesday the week of the game.

Think it's something that has been addressed before when Wolves or Blackburn were in L1 and they had postponements a every time their season. Bigger EFL clubs wanted the schedule to match PL & CH with the weekend off, smaller clubs wanted them to still go ahead as it potentially would be damaging financially as this thread has shown, many fans would be up for a Saturday away trip compared to a Tuesday night game, meaning less money at the doors.

I can understand why it's annoyed people but if the situation was reversed I'd expect us to make the same decision. Yes it's unfortunate for the fans who have booked early but I'd expect us to look after our own interests before that of opposition fans. All clubs have the option to use this if they can match the criteria.

I still think there is no excuse, from Colchester’s perspective, in selling tickets for the match, when they must have had some knowledge that they could seek to postpone the game. They have in effect sold something, which they must have known they would have difficulty in fulfilling. You could argue that is miss selling. I am not sure what ‘terms and conditions’ are included on the actual tickets and perhaps someone who is affected could inquire with the Trading Standards Officer. The clubs/EFL/FA/FIFA are treating supporters with a degree of contempt, given my experiences of the FA, then it is fairly predictable.
