We need to get away from this idea that O’Donnell was somehow the problem with us shipping goals at an alarming rate. He started off the season well but by the end was dragged down to everyone elses level. We have major problems with our squad but the keeper isn’t one of them.

Totally agree. In the grand scheme of things the keeper situation would be firmly at the bottom of the shit list.

    Not reallly.

We need to build from the back to start with.

Of defence was shocking last season.

The shit list from last season would read as:
    Defence
    Midfield
    Attack
    GK

OD is a poor keeper. he may not be the only problem we have/had but he's definitely one of them.

I think we've far bigger issues in other areas of the pitch. Not much to choose between OD and Colin Doyle imo, both fairly solid L1 keepers who would be fine with a decent defense in front of them. If it came down to new goalie or centre half I'd bite your hand off for a new centre half.

But to place in order (Shittiest first ;) )

Defence (perm any four from ten)
Attack (perm any two from five)
Midfield (perm any three or four from eight)
'Keeper (Just a pick of one, two would be stretching it TBH )

    :)

Sorry Park but we disagree. RO’D is a more than adequate keeper in L1, let alone L2. Yes his form hit the buffers but he held his own many times before then.

But as I’ve said before, our fans’ expectations are unrealistic. We’ve “rubbished’ McLaughlin, Williams, Doyle and now O’Donnell. Even Pickford was deemed not good enough by some of our armchair ‘experts’.

Agree he was better than most of those on the pitch and in a reasonable team he would have been adequate, you are correct that his form really deteriorated after that good run in December, turned into the continuing nightmare of January. He was clearly at fault at Barnsley.

    Love this thread....

Hornby has caught the train to the seaside, on a loan deal, leaving GSK as no2 keeper. Great read this thread BTW.

Good move all around this. Hornby not getting a look in here due to the form of O'Donnell. Bowyer must trust GSK as back up.
Hornby definetely needs first team action now at his age.

Wouldnt be surprised to see Hornby leave permanently in January actually

Could be bad news for Devine. No need to include him on the bench now if GSK is going to be on there.

Od Has stepped up two gears so far Possible with the help of the new keeper coach. I am sure Hornby was brought in to play if Od had carried on the way he finished last season

    Another gem from Park.

I wonder if he realises Hornby is THIRD choice?

In fairness, doesn't necessarily mean he's third choice now. Could be good experience for GSK on the bench and Hornby gets much needed game time. It's a short term loan so can get him back if there are any injuries and may get some cash in also

Hopefully this means GKS is making good progress, and the coach is earning his corn.
