I've sent messages to mods and not had replies.

I got a month ban apparently for inappropriate content yet not one of my posts was edited or removed. Month ban!

Your lucky it was only a month

The next ban is a permanent... you and a few others are sailing close to the wind

A reminder to some members to think on before posting as you have all had previous warnings.. we don't just ban people for the fun of it

Some mods are already asking for permanent bans to be enforced against a few members not heeding warnings

I see lots of inappropriate content on this site going unchecked. Yet I was banned for a post that was neither edited or deleted and is factually correct. (I could evidence the facts with archived C&B data.)

Further to this, it's not very helpful to see that you have an unread message when you try to access the site that you can't read due to being banned.

Just to clarify, you weren't banned for a single post. You accumulated enough warning points to automatically trigger a one month ban. When you are warned, a number of warning points are given depending on the severity of the offence. Continually breaking the rules means that you get more and more points, gong over the threshold for points will trigger an automatic ban. Essentially, multiple minor indiscretions will eventually result in a ban, which is what happened in your case.

The post I was banned for (or that caused the accumulation of points) was quoted in my message informing me of the ban. I maintain that that post had nothing but truth that I can back up if required.

Where can we find information on the values assigned to warnings? I'd assume there's a table with an explanation in one column and the number of points assigned to it next to it?

It used to be on your profile page on C&B. Each warning was listed with the number of points and when it expired.

But shouldn't it be known in advance rather than when it happens and you see the impact?

    It's disappointing a mod hasn't replied yet.

Not sure now but the points were dependent on how serious it was etc so could be upped from the standard 1, eg if it was second or third warning for something then you could get more. A bit like when someone is guilty of speeding the penalty can be different depending on exact situation.

So not a fixed number. As @Hoochy-Min@Hoochy-Min said, it was made up as went along.

But it could be different now.

You may be right and forgive me but all I can go on is the words of a moderator who said....

When you are warned, a number of warning points are given depending on the severity of the offence

So my question is how does a member understand the scale of offences and the number of warning points assigned to these offences?

@Frank Castle@Frank Castle - these are your words. Could you answer my question? If not @StaffordBantam@StaffordBantam @king karl@king karl? I'm disappointed that I have to turn to tagging moderators to try and get an answer.

As Stork said the warning points system used is down the moderator and works like a driving points system where you get to so many and you trigger a ban - but is not set in stone and is flexible

Usually the moderator will message or edit a users post a few times before they start to dish out warnings , Unless its spam or really abusive then its an instant ban

The first warning no points are issued , Its a gentle reminder to behave

Issuing a second warning the user will receive 1 to 2 points

if the user receives 5 points they trigger a 1 month ban

if the user receives 10 points - they will receive a permanent ban

Points last so long then you have a clean licence again

Moderators have the option of issuing various temporary bans

This is where a poster continually causes aggravation despite having multiple posts deleted , but is not bad enough for a permanent ban yet

Longer bans are discussed first between the mods
