I've seen him on FL highlights, looks quick and technically very good, hopefully we can get this one over the line before Port Vale look to take him with Askey being the manager there.

‘Bit cringeworthy begging for previous (average) players to rejoin though, ain’t it?

If the 16 contracted players amounts to £1.6m that obviously averages £100k per year. However, given that Doyle, Wright, Scannell and Riley are rumoured to be on £5k per week (£260k per year each) and O’Donnell, Mellor and O’Connor on £3k per week (£156k per year) that would amount to £1,508,000 on those 7 wasters (sorry players) alone, meaning the remaining 9 are on an average of £10,222 per year / £197 per week which obviously is bollocks. As Akpan and Reeves fall into this remaining 9 it means that some of the weekly wages can’t be as high as most thought.

So either Edin actually did do something right and make sure the top earners took a huge hit on their weekly wage or some of the figures quoted by those in the know were actually a load of shite (likely).

I suppose the question is, is that figure based on last year's wage or the new reduced wage after relegation? Either way it still works out at 2k per week as an average.
That probably won't reduce much if any as an average across the squad with new signings.
It could get us 9 new players but realistically probably 6 or 7 as people have guessed.

    is it?
some people rate him higher than you. I personally think as League 2 keepers go he'd be better than average. and I don't know if it's 'begging' or just passing comment that they hope he's on the way back.
I haven't tweeted his mrs or anything but I also hope he's going to re-sign for us. I don't think thats any different than people that follow her, and support City commenting on her posts that hint on his return.

Just seen he's only played 17 games this season so that's probably right

Just looking at the out of contract players in League 2. The better ones are:

    Chuks Aneke
    Kieran Agard
    Hiram Boateng
    Jacob Mellis
    Tom Aldred
    Michael Bostwick
    Jay O'Shea

I think some of those would be good acquisitions. Would probably face competition from some league 1 teams but if we can shift some deadwood weve got a decent budget.

Not so sure if you approximate a 20% reduction due to relegation for those 7 it means the left over works out at £393600 or £43733 per player or £840 per week - few kids in there with Gibson, Staunton, GSK, Wood and Patrick who are potentially on less than that.

Another factor being contracts offered to Anderson, Colville and Devine though so probably looking at another £3k per week collectively for them.

Any cheeky bids for Bury players? Not been paid since March and contracts may not be valid.

Difficult to know for sure. I also wonder whether the budget is set for “basic pay” or whether bonuses are set within the budget.

As for the salaries, its not just BCFC that have overpaid. A lad I know was involved with Gateshead FC going back 5 years or so and some of the wages they were paying in the National league were staggering, especially considering they were struggling to get more than 600-700 fans in. Julio Arca was getting £1500 per week + 20% of the gate receipts at South Shields around that time which was ridiculous
