Would love Ball back but we couldn’t afford him in League one nevermind now.

Wish people would stop saying this, it’s so far from the truth.

Mighty Rochdale as you call them are in a league above us. So in comparison they are better than good old City !

    And too right too ;)

Ball is a better player than he showed towards the players and half of the season. So why didn’t he show his ability more often?

He refused to sign a permanent deal when e could; can’t see him dropping into L2 now and accept lower wages

That's not quite right Rotherham refused to pay him off in Jan and if they did wanted a fee to compensate what they paid out that's why it never became a permanent deal.

Really?? You spent most of last night telling me that we were £2 million in debt or at least an extra bill for Rupp to pay. So when he has paid that, plus topping up the players budget and other bills, there might not be any money left to pay for extra pay for quality players.

Sorry Ricky but this is not common knowledge and the majority of us didn’t know this. The club said they wanted him, but then nothing materialised and the lack of info relating to this was deafening

What @Ricky@Ricky has said is as l understood it. Rotherham would not agree to the signing. Not sure if City expected Rotherham to pay part of his wage until the end of his Contract with them. Perhaps they felt there was a potential that they would wish to retain him?

It was common knowledge. You just usually ignore it because it doesn't suit your particular argument at the time.

(Bowing out again (thank f**k for that))

I’m not disputing it. I’m saying I saw nothing from the clubs (either Rotherham or City) to explain why the deal didn’t go through.

Was it a fact that this was the reason or just a rumour? Genuine question

Go on then, where was this made common knowledge? I don’t recall seeing anything from Rotherham or Bradford City. I don’t even think any media outlet covered it. In fact the only places I saw any mention was rumours on this site and on Social Media.

I don’t count rumours as common knowledge.

Talk down here (in Rotherham) is that Rotherham were not about to see a potential rival get Ball for free. As things stand, Ball is Lge 1 ready, which is where Rotherham are now, whilst City are now Lge 2. Ball will not sign for City unless on Lge 1 wages, and will await offers from Lge 1 Clubs, including Rotherham.

That makes no sense though Ronnie. They were in the Championship and wouldn’t let Ball join a L1 club in case they became a rival the following season.

So instead, they kept hold of his registration until the end of the season, when he was then released. Rotherham are now in L1 and Ball could still yet sign for one of their rivals. So absolutely nothing gained
