He knows that. It's the only reason he posted such a view. Did you really expect anything less from "Mr different"?

Never thought I'd agree with George Osborne on anything but here we are

Whatever you think of the girl, her newborn baby is completely innocent and punishing it for the crimes its mother committed is just plain evil.

This kind of attitude would only make ourselves even more vulnerable, no sympathy here.......

She chose to go, she wasn't forced. Time for the security services to get the Dad interrogated, he knows more than he's letting on.

Seems to be the in thing these days in this country for 'older men' to make young girls feel special. And because of 'bleeding heart liberals' it was allowed to go unpunished on a national scale. Some people only understand 'tough action'.

Vulnerable to what, a newborn baby? If anything her being properly interrogated would allow the UK to strengthen its security. You're letting your hatred blind you, Tony.

And what do we do with her once she's been interrogated? Lock her up forever? Try and change her way of thinking? Give her a shiny new identity and a council house for her and her baby?

Is there even a GOOD option considering there is a high probability she will tell us the square root of feck all?

If nothing else she (and all her family) need to be made an example of.....
She says she is 'shocked' that we are to revoke her citizenship yet she is not 'shocked' by the sight of severed heads
    in a bin.............!!!
Anyway I am happy to be in agreement with 80% of folk in todays Sky poll ...

I'm sure he does. And if she was exposed to Islamist propaganda in his household for years it may partly explain why she did what she did at only 15 years old.
What I pick up from her interviews is that she doesn't really believe that she was wrong. She appeals for sympathy and understanding then in the next breath says something that suggests she is not actually remorseful. Others in her position found that Isis life was not the paradise they were promised and were horrified by the barbarity once exposed to it close up. But she sounds to me as though (like a criminal who is only remorseful because they've been caught) she only wants to come back because she backed the losing side and is now friendless and destitute.
But (and I can't believe I'm saying this) I agree with George Osborne. She is British. Why should any other country have to take responsibility for her? Sajid Javid may claim she has dual citizenship, but it's now clear that Bangladesh don't accept that and have no intention of letting her into their country. And why should they? She's our problem, not theirs and goodness knows they have enough problems of their own without importing ours.
As ever, the world is more complicated than the simplistic solutions given by right wingers and social conservatives would like us to believe. International law is clear - we cannot make her stateless.
Making an example of her may make us feel good but it's likely to be counterproductive. Those who are at risk of radicalisation aren't very amenable to reason. Being shown that they won't be allowed back in similar circumstances has little effect, because those who go generally have no intention of coming back at the point they are considering leaving. It's much more likely that a refusal to allow her back will make her a martyr and be used by the radicalisers as more evidence of the evil west's prediction of the faithful.
Nobody wants this thoroughly unlikeable person, but it's a question of the lesser of two evils.

She will be allowed back eventually but the longer and more difficult we can make it the better, It is doubtful she will be prosecuted for anything serious due to lack of evidence, She shows some fake remorse now that her advisers are guiding her to not show her true feelings in an attempt to repair the damage her original interviews did, Once back she will cost the country millions of pounds in support for her and her child and in watching her because it is obvious because she believes in the ISIS cause and that given the chance she will join others with the same view and try do damage here in the UK, She will join the hundreds perhaps thousands of ISIS supporters in this country and be-headings of innocent people and other atrocious acts are a real prospect unless the security services can stop them, as usual it will be the innocent who pay the price for the rights of the people who wish to destroy our way of life

Pretty fair comments. As seems usual for most things the only winner out of this situation will be the lawyers with their snouts in the trough as one side fights another on behalf of the 'wonderful' British justice system. If you take the Begum situation to its roots its another symptom of wars caused by the worlds richest people for ever more self gain. People like this woman think they are fighting for a just cause when in reality they are pawns in a rich v rich power struggle.

You make some good points but two things from the post -

The name George Osborne to back up your argument doesn't help you ;)

This isn't just right-wingers and social conservatives that want her gone, plenty on the working class left are even more hardened on this subject.

But she is British, how is it correct to try and dump the problem on Bangladesh, what did they do?

This misguided girl/woman appears gauche, dim even, her comments about Dutch citizenship are quite sad, the media have played her like a banjo.

Many people like to think before they knee jerk.

She doesn't appear to pose any threat, history shows that it's usually a negative thing to make a martyr out of such a person, the child of a martyr is yet another negative...l'd like the child to have a life opportunity.

I agree with RT's comments about her father, and the more l read about him the more l have sympathy for his indoctrinated child. Maybe the authorities & media can hassle him for a more positive result!

It's just opportunistic political posturing, from which l don't see any positive outcome. I can forsee plenty of negative ones though.

The opposite attitude always fails, generates more sympathy and provides a recruitment boost for people with similar ideals as the child/woman.

    Internment being a classic example.

But large swathes of the working class left ARE social conservatives (with a small c). Just because you vote Labour doesn't necessarily mean that you are socially liberal. Many traditional working class Labour voters are extremely socially conservative. Brexit is a classic example of that. It cuts right across normal party voting lines. Most Remainers are social liberals and most Brexiteers are social conservatives, regardless of which party they normally vote for.

Interesting listening to the ex ISIS guy who has rejected them and is now a government adviser on ISIS on Newsnight,
His solution is to bring them all home that are UK citizens but offshore on a UK Territory such as our base in Cyprus where they could be housed, Interrogated and reprogrammed if needed, They could then be prosecuted if crimes could be proved, They would only be allowed access to the UK mainland after deemed as no threat,
