Yeh dissent is only 2 games, serious foul play and violent conduct is 3 games. I had it in my head it was 3 but good news it is only 2 - especially when you consider our thread bare CB options.

 

If he proves to Alexander that he's a better option for the next match and he offers a better chance of us winning matches than the other midfielders then he'll be straight in.

Unless injuries forces his hand I expect Metcalfe to be on the bench. He has only played for one club in his senior career who play a different way to us. His pre season is two weeks behind the rest and I don’t think GA believes he is up to pressing game which is our style yet.

 

With Leigh and Pattison having knocks, I think Metcalfe might end up playing because theres no other fit CMs. Worth remembering he played for Everton in pre season as well as us, so there are at least some minutes in his legs.

From memory of our game at their place, Chesterfield were a very pressing side. Metcalfes goal against us was some great front foot press to get out left side pushed back and panicked and they played it around us until he let go. I think he'll slot in pretty well once he is up to speed.

 

He said he’d had a full preseason .

 

Metcalfe only played 11 mins against Blackburn and 13 mins against Accrington - he is way off the pace of our current crop.

Only way I see him starting is if Pattison and Leigh are both crocked. Even then we could see Sarcevic partner Power.

GA has pretty much said he has some catching up to do. Once he does he will probably be Powers partner.

 

Only way I think he starts on Saturday is if he has a very, very good week in training. It would be a big ask for him to be thrown in after only a week at the club and less than 90 minutes behind him in pre-season from what Alexander said in the T&A is sounds like they considered taking him off at half time on Saturday.
If Pattison and Leigh are out for Saturday I'd say it's more likely Sarcevic will drop back into CM and probably Lapslie or Swan in the right of the front 3. As Neufville hasn't been tried in that position during pre-season I'm a lot less convinced we'll try him there than I did when he signed or when the squad numbers came out.

 

Surely we should be sending him to BPA to grab 45 minutes? Theres 1 or 2 others you could argue a case for if they are no longer injured and available.

 

We dont want them dirty Stans injuring him. Leave that game to the kids, not that I want any of them getting injured of course!

 

Magloire and Oliver both at the PFA training camp this week.

 

He is way behind though and only has 90 mins under his belt this pre season. Started training 2 weeks after us too. if he gets injured then refuse to play them next summer

I don't think that will happen as we'd rather he gets a full training session with the 1st team to get up to speed with how we play. If any of the first team are going to play tomorrow are Huntington if we are needing him for Saturday plus Ibbitson, Goodman and Hadi.

I would have thought he was too good for league 2. As you say though, Franchise FC will be paying him silly money, or why else would you want to go there

 

He didn’t say how long it was , if that’s the case I’d hardly call it “ full” measured against us. Tnx for clarifying .

 

Money talks and he’s got the lump sum signing on fee. So they are emulating the spend , spend , spend out of the division.
