Summer 2025 transfer rumours

I know Alexander doesn't like a target man , but we are not going to have the ball much with how we play and sometimes it would help to give forwards a rest and just to keep possession for a bit longer , a outlet when walker kicks at moment it just goes straight back to opposition

 

Think he is on a month to month deal at the moment. The fact we have kept him on all summer suggests to me he will probably get a deal. We likely have 3 CBs out for Wycombe so I expect he remains.

 

Id take my chances with Cook and address it in January if we have too.

 

Personally think we are two players short. I am not convinced at all with Tilt or Kelly at LCB and would love another in there plus an extra midfielder.

 

If you look at Doncaster and McCann, he isn't afraid of playing youth which long term will reap rewards. Obviously they have to be good enough to get in. As for Kav I think he played because we didn't really have many options. I don't think he'll be a starter this season with the options we have.

 

The only way around it i can think of is to bring someone in on a 6 month loan but if they score goals it will be difficult to either keep them because others will want him or to let them go if they've done well!

 

I understand this argument - the ones we have aren't good enough - but GA has offered contracts to both of those this season so he wants them and is unlikely to bring in a third one and then have one of those two sitting in the stand. So the argument doesn't really hold weight. GA thinks they are good enough and time will tell if he's right.

Nothing wrong with Tilt. He is highly regarded wherever he has been

 

I agree with that but it's just where I personally feel is our weakness and like you say time will tell.

 

Personal few from what I saw in Salford games last season against city and on TV plus the two pre seasons games I have seen so far ( may play some part today) he good in the air and physical but gets turned easily and his control isn't that good. If you want a no nonsense defender he will be a good defender but a playing centre half he ain't.

 

Good move for him….a decent step up . Good luck to the lad .

Signed Dom Telford and now Harry Chapman.

 

And Callum Johnson. Jacob Butterfield there as well.

 

Can't see it really. Signing a lot of guys who have either not played for a while or not looked great for a fair few seasons.

Chapman and Johnson are crocked these days (Johnson went off 12 mins in today injured), Telford hasn't been a threat for a good few years now. Butterfield another who wont be a threat at that level anymore, Frank Nouble too. Seems like they have done the old FM trick in NL of just brining in free agents with a decent reputation.

 

It’s been an encouraging pre season the injuries are a bit of a worry but we have a decent size squad to cope. I still regard the Humphrey as an attacking midfielder and I hope our last signing if there is one is a forward

 

Telford apart from One season has been bang average every other year in his career.

 

Bang average is being generous.

 

GA has literally alluded that Metcalfe isnt ready to start games as he has catching up to do and needs bedding in.
