My way too early prediction for L1 next season.... all 4 promoted teams stay up and all 3 relegated sides from the champ all stay in L1.

 

This made me laugh. He seems a good lad does this Ed. Chips in on a lot of lower league stuff and is a Burton Albion fan.

 

I really don't see predicting us to end 9th as some massive surprise tbh, when I saw the headline I thought they were going top 2 with their prediction. I fancy us to finish upper mid-table anyway if we recruit well.

 

I’ll keep my powder dry until we finish recruiting etc.

 

I can see us taking to L1 better than L2 to be honest with the way we play. Didn't we do that last time? Everyone had a bit of speciesism going into the last promotion to L1 and we ended up about mid table?

I can see most the promoted clubs doing ok to be honest, if Vale launch money at it again you never know they might want to challenge higher. It sounds like Plymouth and Cardiff are in a bit of limbo and Luton are planning on a lot of the squad leaving so those 3 its a lottery if they can recover in time.

I have a sense of excitement for next season with us been an underdog.
I think we play better that way.

 

Top half every season, except relegation if I remember correctly. In our spell before I think it was similar, only getting relegated due to selling Windass and Johnson. Obviously, the last time was Rahic's madness. We usually do better at this level than league 2 as you say, where we seem to get bogged down in added pressure.

For me it's mid table or perhaps sneaking into the play offs.

 

I'll be disappointed if we aren't in the champions league in 5 years time but i'll accept the Europa league as consolation.

 

The thing with next season is you won’t get teams coming here to proverbially park the bus and hope to pinch something as has happened in recent seasons. So that opens up more chances for us to attack them .
Get the players in we need as early as possible then let’s roll those doggies over

 

Timed an arrival at Horwich today, just as Bolton fans and Preston North End fans were travelling in to attend a friendly.

Bolton won 2-0 and I see that they have also won 2-0 at Hibs and 5-2 at Shrewsbury. Only pre-season friendlies, but they will be strong this season.

 

They didn't beat Oldham 1-0 though did they!?

 

Think folk are too obsessed with budgets and finances. It doesnt guarantee a thing - only helps.

For every Brum and Wrexham there is a Sheff Utd and Sunderland who took a good few seasons to go get promoted. In the last few seasons weve seen Rotherham, Burton, Blackpool, Oxford, Wycombe show you can get promoted on a modest budget.

Promoted teams have always done ok avoiding relegation but there does seem to be 1 each year that drops back down such as Crawley, Carlisle and Forest Green.

Im more confident of a play off push than a relegation battle, but I concede midtable is probably the most likely. Good lower league manager, tremendous momentum at home and i think our recruitment looks pretty good. More positives than negatives.

 

I think the mindset of our home support may help aswell rather than expecting to turn up and just roll over teams and sit there quiet think we will be more up for far tougher games.
I actually cannot wait rather than some tinpot clubs turning up spoiling games in front of a couple of hundred away fans we now have sides that will xome after us with decent away followings.

 

Best home game last term was Colchester. They came and had a real go at us.
