Nobody on here “wants” him to change roles, it’s fans speculating because Wimbledon brought him in as attacking midfield player, then they tried him in an alternative role . It appears from past videos he can play either role . So it’s not a case of round holes and square pegs .

Sharpe said at the forum that Neufville had been brought in to compete with Halliday for the RWB role.

Great that’s how it should be , because BH has only one year left and I doubt he’d get a place above JN anyway?

Wimbledons play a different formation to us. They play a 352. Their wing backs have far more forward responsibilities as they are the only width in the side.

Neufville is more than capable of playing Sarcevics role.

On a lot of the videos of Neufville he has played on the left as well so just as GA likes he is adaptable

This is the most bonkers quote of the summer.

There is more chance of him signing for Valencia, who were linked to him in January.

Windass is not coming to league 1 for us or any other club in the division.

Kudos to you for attracting bites for your nonsense though

You’re very boring. I love a good wind up as much as anyone but get some new content.

Yep. He can be used in numerous positions and thats a plus. May well be RWB but wouldnt be surprised if he was used in other areas too. Thats his versatility - its a trait

I think the argument of round holes and square pegs is used far too much now, more and more managers want players who are versatile and GA certainly seems to be one. Is it not a positive that Neufville excelled at RWB but has the experience know how to play further forward? Gives us more options particularly during games almost like a free substitution.
Gilliead was one who comes to mind as a utility player who almost fell victim to the fact that he wasn’t a master of any position but could just do a job there, handy to have but it’s hard to keep them happy

A load of bollocks, and whats more, ask any Sheff Wed fans what they think of him, shit attitude, lazy workrate, 1 decent performance in 10, Am sure GA will not have the likes of Windass jnr around our dressing room. Just because his Dad was a legend means nowt.

Yet until Alexander got the right pegs in the right holes we looked miles off being promoted. This versatile tag, or the dreaded utility moniker is usually afforded to players like Gilliead who never let you down but ain't getting you promoted.

That’s just not true, GA tinkered players positions all the way through the season, during the brilliant spell, the run in and even the last game. That’s not me saying I agree with every choice either but have you forgotten Leigh up front, Khela wingback, Jamie Walker playing as a striker, a number 10, winger and centre mid. Needs just as the season goes on, your perfect world of every player only ever playing 1 set position just doesn’t work, squads aren’t big enough hence the need for some versatile players

Why did Rohl trigger his option and why was he a key player that started almost every game last season? A few bitter fans dont speak for 30k. The guy has been turning up training and not been paid for 2 months. He is outspoken but lazy and a shitty attitude is wide of the mark.

Anyway be loads of Championship teams in for him. Probably end up at Hull.

None of those you mention get anywhere near the best out of the player. Take Leigh for example, has shown nothing so far to suggest he will do anything in league 1 other than offer a replacement if we have no other option. He did not tinker with positions during the 'brilliant' spell at all, what he did was tinker before the 'brilliant' spell with changing what was 3-5-2 with Sanderson, Cook and Kavanagh playing the front two to 3-4-2-1 giving us the formation of Smallwood (an ever present) with Pattison and Khela coupled with Sarcevic and Pointon playing in the space between them and the lone striker (Cook or later Kavanagh.
Your missing the point i make regarding versatile players, they make up about 10/15% of your squad and generally play if you have injuries. I agree you need a couple of them to cover if you a bad run of injuries but they will not be a starting member of a first eleven, an example of that Tyreik Wright. Alexander sees him a wide left/left wing back but he won't start either role if others in the squad are fit. Same with our defence we have players who can apparently play both full back and centre back but if all our centre backs are fit a full back will not be considered to play centre back. Another one, remember when Odour was playing in central midfield because we had a lack of central midfield replacements? Looked appalling, just like fans of other club mentioned when he was used as a left wing back.

I'm not wanting to dig out Gillead in particular, but he was part of the problem at the club for years. Was signed as a winger but wasn't good enough, so was converted to a centre mid because he had a good work ethic and got his foot in. We should have got rid and signed someone better.

Play your best players in their best positions. I agree with whoever said that it would be crazy to play Neufville anywhere but RWB. We've not signed him because of a couple of half decent playoff matches on the left; he'll have been watched regularly this season while playing RWB, so that's the position he'll play, surely? He'll only play elsewhere if we've got injury problems.
