I actually dont feel that its such a massive step to get out of this league now that 2 big hitters are out of there ............you never know a half decent budget a bit of good management and we may push through ..........other clubs of our size and with our type of budget have done it so why cant we ?????

Whilst Birmingham and Wrexham have gone there will be a number of teams still with very big budgets. The 3 teams coming down will have sizeable budgets that will be at least 2 or 3 times what budget we had last season. When Plymouth got promoted 3 seasons ago they had a wage bill of £8.3m and in their first season in the Championship it was over £15m.

I would guess that to have a top 7 budget we would be needing a minimum £7-8m

Wycombe have a big budget, Blackpool’s multi millionaire owner is spending money like there is no tomorrow before his appearance in a Chinese courtroom . ( Hong Kong stock market Insider trading charges allegedly ) We will be way down the pecking order of largess?

I think with the expectations of 20k fans, the fact we are one of the biggest under achievers in english football history, and pretty much without a pot to piss in while trying to be sustainable - he aint that wrong.

Suppose it depends on your perspective. Bigger gates almost certainly equals more pressure on the players/staff. But I feel certain that those large attendances [even factoring in not owning the ground] should mean that most clubs in League 2 wouldn't be able to compete with City. Especially when those big attendances mean a boon on the commercial side of the business as well.

The fact that this has only really happened this season, post Rupp, is probably highlighting that the football side of the business has been under performing. I don't know enough to correlate the uptick in form as being heavily correlated with Sharpe's arrival, but it seems like a big coincidence if it isn't.

A decent mid table or above finish this season and he has gone a long way to repairing the damage done by Herr I know f all Rahic
A job done with very little support until last season on a sustainable budget
Deserves far more credit than he gets
After all he is just an employee like everyone else at city bar Rupp

Big gates dont neccesarilly mean big income when you factor in the price of our season tickets. It wasnt long ago they were £199 for adults and £5 for kids. They seem to have found a better balance more recently.

Ground rent to pay, training ground rent to pay, we have no assets.

Sharpe coming in has helped. Thats very clear. He wont be on peanuts though - probably a reasonable players wage.

I think its time fans got off his back tbh. He was criticised (alot of it warranted) for failure to get promoted and now we got promoted it seems fans still not happy.

I think he has built a good team around him to give him that extra support. Rupp holds the purse strings but Sparks makes the appointments because lets be honest, Rupp had zero clue who Longo, Sharpe, Gent and Alexander were. City look in a good position on and off the pitch IMO.

Probably on a similar amount to what Derbyshire was on, but offering 100% more value for money.

Sparks has said previously that only since Mark Hughes joined have we had a top 7, league 2 budget.
He now concedes the Derek got a raw deal and we didn't give him the tools to get promoted.

Of course he’s wrong but for some reason I can’t fathom a large section of our fans lap it up. Imagine thinking the Bradford job is one of the toughest in English football haha he’s deluded. It’s the toughest job outside of the Premier League and Championship possibly at a stretch. Despite the attendances which I take no notice of there are bigger fish than us in League one this season. 7 out of the 24 have been in the Prem since we were there 25 years ago.
You mention history.. we’ve spent most of our time historically in the 3rd tier of the pyramid and had many years in the fourth and we’ve spent the last 21 years in either league one or two.
He’s done alright recently has Ryan but we were about 60 seconds way from cocking up our entire season just a month ago.

I’m sure you would leap at the chance Morecambe are in need , let’s see how one progresses ;).
