I agree, they're nothing like Cook but I'm not sure not having a Cook 'type' means the whole team can't function.

 

When referring to Tilt, I keep reading that he played for a mid table league 2 side. Untrue, he played for Salford, who finished 1 point off the play offs in 8th.

 

Initial take is CM looks weak. Leigh and Odour need to step up from what they produced last season. Wouldn’t be surprised if we were looking to bring in better.

 

It doesn't but you need that type of player for certain games and to change games. Every team has one to be able to do that

 

As much as we all adore Cook the truth is we were better as a TEAM without him. We don't know how the injury as effected him and if he will be anywhere near the same player he was before. I don't even think he will be first choice when he is fit . The one question which I have said several times is why didn't we play in the similar way with him in the line up.

 

I disagree with that! we were better when cook got injured because our injured players returned and got match fit at the same time, it was just coincidence that it happened around the same time. Jan transfers helped too.

I think I actually agree with your point, I'd also like to see one brought in but I just don't think we will. I think we're stacked in numbers there now and as such I can't see us bringing in anyone unless it's a youth loan.

 

100% we'd have won the league if Cook had stayed fit. There's no doubt in my mind.

 

For the forward thinking playing Sarcevic was injured practically from the get go so cook never really played too many games with him.
Pattison played the first few months before injury where our results were up and down.

We then lost Pointon for period but again he was a bit part player in the early season.

I don't deny once them 3 came back we were by far a stronger side (who wouldn't be) but we played in a different manner when Cook got injured. We didn't play lump ball as much we played more into feet and pressed from the front hence why I ask the question why we weren't doing that kind of football when Cook was available. Only the management can answer that but the results definitely improved overall from Jan onwards.

 

It's something we will never know and I love Cook like the next person but the truth is the results improved when Cook got injured and we tweaked the way we played. Lump football became less and less and we actually played a pressing style with passing into feet. I don't deny I would love Cook to be our no 1 forward once again but I am not convinced the way we set up now brings out the best of Cooks attributes. He is definitely more a target man bully boy player not the ball into feet kind. That's my opinion of course.

 

I did say hypothetically . Denying it isn’t a possibility isn’t prudent but hey budgets . Don’t know which shirt he will be wearing in Sept , didn’t GA suggest he won’t be considered until October at the soonest? We shall see…

That was clearly demonstrated for sure. We found the answer whilst Walsall imploded after losing Lowe.

Yep, as things stand, we can only bring in under 21's now and if we want to bring in anyone older, additional players to Wilson and Smith are going to need to leave.

 

Seeing 3/4 go out on loan wouldn’t surprise .
Odour , Smith, Wilson and potentially Byrne/ Wright ? ( Long shot I know )

 

Smith and Wilson are a given I think but I'd not be disappointed to see any of those other 3 depart as well, if there are any takers.

 

The least likely Byrne especially if Hunts goes .

 

Technically that's wrong because we can bring in more over 21 players and just not register others in our final squad. If Wilson and Smith didn't leave we just wouldn't register them in our squad but still hold their playing registrations. Looking at our squad now you could probably add Ty Wright and Neil Byrne and Oduor to that list too
