TBF he was surrounded by shite. If Elvis Costello or whatever his name was can make L1 then Im sure its plausible Will Swan can.

 

He’s a forward who apparently played a lot at LWB, probably what got them relegated playing players out of position. Hopefully he’ll only play in his natural position.

 

I think I'm right in saying that the club is correct. Bradford City is made up of many different strands, but is only one entity , hence the use of the third person singular. My GCE English Language exam was many, many moons ago, so I'd be perfectly happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

 

You are right but it sounds odd, especially as nobody I have listened to in the last 70 years use “is” in this context ….maybe it’s a Manningham thing ?

 

It seems like a Tyler Smith type signing, can't see him getting more than sub appearances, but who knows.

It can be either depending on what is meant by 'Bradford City.' If we are referring to the football club it would be singular, eg 'Bradford City is a football club which plays in League One.' It could also be considered as a collective noun with the meaning of all the people connected to the club, or just some of them, in which case it would be plural, eg 'Bradford City are looking to recruit an experienced striker,' or Bradford City are looking to extend their ground.' So, depending on the context, both are potentially correct.

Unlike some on here I do like to pay attention to what former clubs have to say about players because nine times out of ten they're correct. Crawley fans think he's crap but in his fairness, his stats last year aren't that bad.

I think some on here who were hoping we'd spend big on a striker will be disappointed because I can't see another one in there now. Kavanagh and Swann until Cook is fit with Humphrys as another option.

 

Ill not turn cartwheels over his signing, but hopefully it will turn out better than it may first appear.

Just not sure where he gets in, and are we doing the right thing spending money on a 4th/5th choice.

People have assumed this isn't "THE" striker, so on that reckoning it will be , any Newbie cook, kavannagh, Humphries before Swann starts up front and you'd also think that pattison, sarcevic, pointon, and Humphries would be your main go too players behind the front man so again he is 4th/5th choice.

Also realised neither of those equations bring Tommy Leigh into the equation another we have spent money on.

Shows how far we’ve come really this signing, played 37 games in league 1 scored 7 and 4 assists for a team that got relegated and where not excited, he was great for Mansfield in there promotion season to! He tore us to pieces when they beat us 4-0 at valley parade. We’ve gotta be happy if this is the sort of calibre which could be on are bench surely

 

What harm is there in someone voicing a different opinion? It’s the point of a forum.
I don’t think it’s a good signing particularly but will obviously get behind him.

 

His highlights clip certainly shows a striker who can score goals that you wouldn't see Kavanagh or even Cook scoring.

 

If you like paying attention to what fans of other clubs have to say you'd know that Barnsley fans have said Humphrys is poor played in that position so I wouldn't like to think he is going to be used that way by us.
In terms of Swan, from what I've read about him he sounds more like competition for Kav rather than a Cook replacement so I'm hopeful there will be another one to come in, which I'm guessing will probably be a loan now.

 

Can you elaborate on that statement? What goals has he scored that Kav or Cook wouldn't. Genuinely curious as to what you are alluding to?

 

I agree, Humphrys is not a 9 from what I've read. But I'd expect Alexander to use him as a fourth choice option as opposed to bringing in a fourth out and out striker.

 

Did you listen to the Mansfield fans when we signed Cook?
