Let’s recruit young players and improvers with no L1 experience , is that what one had in mind ?
Those who fit the bill are contracted and will cost serious money .

Clearly one prefers we go straight back down or can name alternatives who….

Are available and out of a deal.
Equal experience and capability in the division to match those recruited .
If contracted , we can afford the transfer fee.

I look forward to your suggestions rather than a blind critique.

Definitely too windy for those fellas! Crosswinds have died down for now so you never know :)

Lovely day down here now, shame the Lincoln away fixture is end of Jan on a Tuesday night!

It never ceases to amaze me with some of our fans @Kevin1954@Kevin1954 , we are just never happy with anything!

    Recruiting too old
Don't want to sign unproven youngsters

I think we are going about our business in quite an astute way, signing players that are former captains at previous clubs bringing a wealth of leadership experience with them. Also early 30's is when a Centre Half is supposed to be in their prime! They have the game time, game knowledge and craft to manage themselves through games.

I know as a City fan, we expect more (all the time) but don't forget where we have just come from... 6 years in League Two. I deduce that Mr Sharpe and his recruitment team full understand the assignment laid out not only by The Chairman/Manager but the fans also. 6 years we have been out of this division, lets just give the squad time and see how the go once a ball has actually been kicked in anger, who knows they might surprise some of us!

Character is as important as quality. Too many years we go through the same motions
“Players get scared to play in front of big crowds”
“Players down tools when things aren’t going our way”
“The squad has a weak mentality”

saw it during Hughes reign. Saw it when Alexander started here. Couldn’t buy a win until play offs was mathematically impossible, then we started playing well when the pressure is off.

Same thing again last year, nobody expects us to do well, and all of a sudden we gain 30 out of 36 points. We’re tipped for the title and we start bottling it again. Then Smallwood gets sent off and we can’t hold a Lead to save our lives

I don’t really care about the fact that all our CBs are on the older side, or that we haven’t got the opportunity to develop another clubs player. we need people to stand up and be counted when it matters, the signings of Touray, Power, Wright, Pennington, Tilt all come with that leadership characteristic. That’s what a successful team needs if we have genuine aspirations of doing well this year

Got to agree with some on here, no issue with the age of some of our signings, particularly in defence. I would have thought a defender in their prime (29/30) with experience at the level or higher is something that will do us nicely particularly in our first season up.

Of course the biggest exception would be Curtis Tilt, but again, it’s experience at the level and perhaps a player who may be useful in scrappier games.

I think the ST will be the most important signing, a player who’s ready but not an age where we’d want rid in a year or two, who that would be I’ve no clue, but would rather it be a permanent than loan or we’re in the same boat next year.

Good window from us so far

Been in the lakes all week and stopped off at Thorpe Park for a well deserved massage and facial.

As I feel at the moment, the resigning of Vadaine Oliver wouldn't challenge my inner feelings

    Been relatively happy with signings.

Yes some more youth wouldnhave been good but as others say, look where we've finally crawled out from.
Character, experience, resilience then order of the day.

The one blemish I would say is the old boys notebook approach by Sharpe. All too repetitive and speaks of someone still very much learning. Not sure we jeed that as a lead figure at the club.

The lack of any scope of non league yet again is a big miss. Can appreciate national league is getting to league 2 levels of funding but we have seen with a club like Peterborough over many years the conveyor belt of talent to be found.

Yet its the wigan, boro, mansfield....and with Graham...salford, Fleetwood matrix of experience we are wedded to....then again of known knowns of character.

    Stockport Blackpool and Wimbledon
Are they part of the old boys club
I don’t care where they come from, as long as they can do a job at this level

Yes I understand what you say and what the recruitment strategy is so far. It however, would have helped if Mr Sharpe had not stated we would be looking to recruit younger players. if we have changed strategy for whatever reason then so be it.

Maybe we have tried to bring in the younger players and it just hasn't materialised?

Just think we should let the powers that be do their jobs and make our judgement when we've seen the lads kick a ball.

in his signing interview Pennington said he first started talking with GA at the start of preseason which suggest he was a first choice

I think he will start with Baldwin being suspended. Obviously after that it'll hopefully be great performance that are making the shirt his.

He met two players in a Manchester hotel, we suspect Touray may have been one the other Pennington maybe?

I'm wondering who we're looking at for the central/defensive midfielder positions.

At the moment we're down two in Smallwood and Khela and up one in Power.

Power seems more in the Khela mould or even Pattison as he carries the ball forward.

So, it feels like we're missing one person and even then we likely need two given how we were lucky to get through the season with limited injuries/suspensions in central midfield.
