Ive asked Grok about our summer business....a veey indepth analysis

While I can't predict the future or confirm unannounced signings, I can provide details on Bradford City's confirmed summer 2025 signings based on available information and discuss potential areas of focus for additional transfers.

    Confirmed Signings for Summer 2025
Bradford City, preparing for their first season back in League One after promotion from League Two, have made the following signings for the 2025–26 season:
    1. Max Power (Midfielder) - A three-time League One winner, bringing significant experience and leadership.
    2. Curtis Tilt (Defender) - Former 2024–25 Salford City captain, adding defensive solidity.
    3. Joe Wright (Defender) - Kilmarnock’s Player of the Year, known for his defensive reliability.
    4. Josh Neufville (Winger) - Transferred from AFC Wimbledon, where he was Player of the Year, enhancing flank options.
    5. Ibou Touray (Defender) - Signed to bolster the defensive unit, particularly on the left.
    6. Stephen Humphrys (Striker) - Joined on a two-year deal from Barnsley FC, adding attacking firepower.
These six signings, reported as of June 20, 2025, reflect Bradford’s ambition to compete in League One, focusing on experienced players with proven records in higher divisions.
    Potential Areas for Further Signings
While no specific unconfirmed targets are named in the provided data, insights from fan discussions and transfer analyses suggest areas where Bradford might seek additional players before the transfer window closes:
    • Striker/Forward: Despite signing Humphrys, fan pundits and analysts have emphasized the need for another prolific striker to complement or replace the output of Andy Cook, who was pivotal in their promotion but injured last season. The club’s pursuit of Michael Mellon (on loan in January 2025) indicates interest in young, dynamic forwards.
    • Midfield Depth: With signings like Max Power and Tommy Leigh (January 2025), Bradford have strengthened their midfield, but additional depth could be sought to cover injuries or suspensions, especially given the step-up to League One. Fans value players like Antoni Sarcevic for their creativity, suggesting a similar profile might be targeted.
    • Defensive Cover: The signings of Tilt, Wright, and Touray bolster the backline, and Lewis Richards is close to signing a new deal despite Championship interest. However, the departure of players like Romoney Crichlow highlights the need for versatile defenders who can play regularly.
    Transfer Strategy and Context
    • Manager Graham Alexander’s Approach: Alexander has focused on quality over quantity, signing six players compared to rivals like MK Dons, who made 11. He believes in retaining motivated players from the promotion squad while adding targeted reinforcements.
    • Financial Backing: The club has shown willingness to invest, as seen in January 2025 with signings like Leigh and Mellon, and this trend continues with high-profile acquisitions like Power and Humphrys.
    • Fan Expectations: Posts on X and fan analyses suggest optimism about the current signings but a desire for one or two more impactful additions, particularly in attack, to ensure competitiveness in League One.
    Rumors and Speculation
No specific transfer rumors for additional summer 2025 signings are detailed in the provided sources beyond the confirmed deals. However, earlier rumors (e.g., Michael Mellon in January) and interest in players like Lewis Richards indicate Bradford’s recruitment team is active in both domestic and loan markets.

A couple of things there that aren't quite right MK Dons certainly aren't our rivals this season and Crichlow wasn't a mainstay of our defence.

I asked Grok why City are so shit-seems we didn't get promoted after all :)
Bradford City AFC’s struggles stem from a mix of historical mismanagement, financial woes, and strategic missteps, though "shit" might be a bit harsh for a club with a loyal fanbase and past glories. Here's a breakdown:

    • Historical Context: Bradford City, founded in 1903, had moments of success, like the 1911 FA Cup win and a Premier League stint in 1999–2001. However, their decline began post-Premier League due to reckless spending. The club broke their transfer record on players like Benito Carbone, but relegation and the 2002 ITV Digital collapse left them financially crippled, leading to administration and a spiral down the leagues.
    • Ownership and Management Issues: The 2016 sale to Stefan Rupp and Edin Rahic was a turning point for the worse. Rahic’s micromanagement, as detailed in a 2021 Reddit post, alienated fans and staff, leading to poor decisions and relegation to League Two by 2019. Current owner Rupp has stabilized finances but is criticized for being detached, rarely attending matches, and not investing enough to push for promotion. Fans also point to CEO Ryan Sparks’ questionable football decisions despite commercial success.
    • On-Pitch Struggles: The club’s obsession with managerial changes—nine managers in four years by 2022—disrupts continuity. Graham Alexander, the current manager, has struggled to turn things around in League Two, with fans frustrated by poor recruitment and tactics. A 2023 article notes the club’s budget, reportedly the fourth largest in League Two, isn’t translating to results due to mismanagement. Recent signings like Ibou Touray and Stephen Humphrys haven’t yet sparked a revival.
    • Fan Apathy and Structural Problems: Poor performances under managers like Derek Adams (sacked in 2022) led to up to 4,000 season ticket holders skipping home games, despite cheap tickets (£138, the lowest in England in 2007–08). A 2023 piece argues the club lacks a clear vision, oscillating between short-term fixes and no defined playing style, unlike clubs with structured models like Crewe or Newport.
    • Current State: As of June 2025, Bradford City languishes in League Two, far below their early-2000s Premier League days. A 2022 Athletic article highlighted their slide from near-Championship contenders in 2015–16 to mid-table obscurity. While commercially stable, breaking even with £8 million in revenue, the club’s on-pitch product doesn’t match its potential, given a 24,840-capacity stadium and historically strong attendance.
The club isn’t doomed—fan loyalty and commercial stability provide a foundation—but without a clear strategy, better recruitment, and engaged ownership, they’re stuck in League Two mediocrity. If you’re a Bantams fan, it’s a tough watch, but their history shows resilience.

Strange as he's quoted wanting to coming back to the UK to be "closer to his children", unless he's a property down sarf.

Just last week, Carroll sold his Essex mansion that he and his soon to be ex-wife had for £8.5m. Going through a divorce at the minute, but his new missus is also London based. So makes sense he's joining someone down there.

Edit: actually it's still under offer, but its still on rightmove if anyone wants to see how a former PL footballer and a reality TV personality decorate a mansion. The mix of modern and working mens club is a real achievement. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/154789334#/?channel=RES_BUY
