Not surprised by this when there's still loads of free agents available. Talking of which, not one of our released players has sorted themselves out with a new club yet.

 

I can understand it , but can’t with Smallwood…..Wonder why, because his options are limited if he wants to stay in the NE. Maybe his demands were too high and that’s why GA said no and he’s trying to get similar from a small pool of interested clubs ?

 

A CF, one more CH (would love it if we pushed out and got Shep but can’t see it) and a couple more midfielders and think we are looking really well.

 

I think he'll definitely have had interest /offers but possibly the better offers have come from clubs further away from home than he would like. If clubs closer to the NE have done their homework on him, they'll know of his desire to find a club within easy commuting distance and may be using that to their advantage in any offers they are making.

As a defensive Smallwood figure yes, very good, didnt he also cover in their back 3 and became less effective ?

 

I can't imagine anyone would be interested in our fringe players as they don't tend to play. If we want someone to leave, we will actively have to encourage it and Im not sure that's what we do under the present management. Wilson went back to the club he knew so hardly surprise, ok, Oliver and Gilliead had moves but I suspect that was more on them wanting to play. If a player isnt active then we don't seem to push people out.

 

I’d be driving Byrne and Odour to anywhere they desire.

 

It’s difficult to push them out when they have a cast iron contract . I know what you mean but on paper very difficult to implement without paying them off .

 

If they took Baldwin with them I'd pay for a Limo!

 

Gonna be a different looking side this season to the one that won promotion last season, been impressed with how we've got signings in early and how Alexander hasn't been sentimental, bringing in starting quality first teams. We do have a bit of deadwood to get rid of and I can see the loan market being fully utilised, be interesting to see how we line up come the first game of the season.

Baldwin is good back up and the quicker of the centre halves we have currently.
