Mellon didnt show a thing though - he had plenty of chances. Khela and Adaramola did and they got their praise.

Certainly a few who were shite for us but gone on and done stuff elsewhere but the here and now for Mellon looks like an easy pass.

I think Mellon had a more physical side his game than the other too. It will be interesting to see if he kicks on.

Why is Paul Mullin good enough for Wigan but not good enough for City? Id have been all over that one.

 

Is he good enough for L1? His record is pretty crap at this level. He'll live off the Wrexham thing for the next contract or two, but he's not all that anymore. He's been injured a pretty long time over the last 18 months or so.

 

I must have missed Alexander giving extended game time to Tayo, Kav and Pointon,. Mellon was given chances but never took them. All this didn't get given a chance rubbish is laughable.

He came on as a sub plenty of times, if i remember correctly and produced virtually nothing.
I did not rate him and we can not afford the time or money to see if he improves.
Rather have Tyler Smith in the squad, who finds the space.and has a bit of pace. If only he could finish on a more regular basis.

 

Struggled last season but not convinced he should be written off. We have plenty of players with shite L1 records but we willing to give them a chance next term.

Its right though. How often do we (collectively) write a player off before they kick a ball? Almost every signing.

 

Does it make any difference though? I'm not convinced it does, players shouldn't be on social media, and the club shouldn't let what fans say influence transfer decisions (I don't think they do). So then you are just left with what happens at VP, and I don't think fans ever really single anyone out and give them shit. I get the whole 'get behind the lads FFS' thing, but I'm not sure it makes as much difference as folk think.

More around his fitness, he struggles to play a full game since that lung injury a few summers back. But since then just picks up loads of issues.

I wouldn’t ! I can’t see it in him, but hey opinions. If Donny thinks he’s their main back up for a decent striker for the here and now , I’m shocked . They must have bigger fish in the pipeline already , say Street is returning ? Sharpe tends to be a bit part player these days?

Humphrys another ex-Wigan man, probably had his best spell as a forward there so far. Last season at Barnsley, he scored 9 in 37 in L1 for Barnsley, 26 starts a goal every 255 mins.
