Neufville …poached from a fellow promoted side. If they aren’t “challengers” neither are we?

I think budgets will be a big factor on who is considered a challenger, rather than who ended where last season. Wimbledon are fan fan-owned and still paying off their stadium; their fans believe they will comfortably have the smallest budget in the league. Orient are a funny one, I don't think where they ended last year has much relevance, put it this way I'd be shocked in Huddersfield don't end above them and ended below them last season. Orient's best players were loanees and last time they got to a playoff final they were relegated the season after. We are all starting from ground zero, lets see who has money and who spends it wisely. But if we go into the season not hoping to compete with a team like Orient then we will have a season of struggle imo.

100% . We do need a quality forward , hard to find those available and budget eating to boot. I’m not in favour of the old head up top as cover for Cookie . We can’t afford to wait just in case he’s not fit enough , we won’t hit the ground running otherwise.. The lad from Orient seems to fit the bill? Let’s see who Donny get to replace Street ? They are in the same boat and budget area? I don’t really want another loanee of the Burnley type “ favour” in. Mellon either. Interesting to see where he goes ? L2 for sure .

Aygei is a solution but I am not convinced he is the answer. He isn't an out and out CF but he gets the thumbs up from me.

Mellon may end up at Oldham with his dad.

We don't need an 'out and out CF' as we clearly showed in our last 22 league matches last season.

What we need is three or four out and out mobile front men who can both score and assist.

There's little evidence that having a high goalscoring CF gurantees promotion, i.e. look at Bromley and Notts County last season, in comparison to say Donny.

Continiing to share the goals is a most and so we need five or six on the field at all times, who have the ability to score.

Money. You will have to pay over the odds for proven high end defender (top of L1 / Championship), when arguably we don't need to as that priority has to be the other end

Barrow confirmed Dean Campbell will leave on a free. Kian Spence also leaving on a free, both turning down renewals. Spencer another with ex-Boro time on his CV.

Spence might follow Wild to Fleetwood. He worked with him at Halifax and Barrow.

I still fully expect to see a further 5 new faces arrive before the season begins. We are still one central defender short even if Kelly signs same at LWB with Richards (wright isn't the answer) we need another DM and two forwards. Anything less than those 5 and we could be in for a tough ride.

AFC Wimbledon aren't challengers in League One?

    The gulf isn't that big.

Yes, the current squad would be more at the lower end than high end, but let's remember there's a good reason that out of the automatically promoted teams from L2, since 2012, only Bury and Swindon have gone straight back down and finances dictated both those relegations.

7 goals and 8 assists from out wide isn’t too bad - proper quick player and one who can play multiple positions, I reckon he’d be able to score much more than 7 in our system, reckon he’d suit Alexander’s high press personally.

in my opinion would be a great signing for us but might be nothing to it anyway in the end

Defender makes sense and I think we only need one more assuming Kelly extends but it can be assumed a goal scorer will be on the way eventually
