I understand my opinion is universally unpopular and I am big enough to accept that. I think people on here are massively under playing league 1 and the riches required. I think people on here are over playing the squads current ability (limped over the line but I do accept we had injuries). One thing on here people are hell bent against is speculating to accumulate due to some fear we are going to have a financial meltdown. Not saying Pearson is worth 9k but what I am saying is we are going to have to pay beyond our means if we want to progress and that’s on Rupp.

 

What we are now seeing is increasing numbers of PL clubs owned by mega rich Americans or even more mega rich Arab states. Those clubs not so owned will (and to some extent already are) increasingly fail to compete and will either get relegated and replaced by other clubs with such ownership or be taken over by Americans or oligarchs. My own beloved West Ham being one such club.
I think we’ll eventually get to the point where enough PL clubs are American owned that they reach the 14 club threshold to change the rules and abolish relegation.

 

With Leeds and Burnley coming up that's 12, in the Championship next season there are 9 at least 3 have chances to get promotion.

 

They can buy an English Championship Club for a fraction of the cost of an MLS franchise.

Average MLS franchise is now worth £500m.

 

Other leagues have gone tits up after throwing big cash about but i think the PL is that big on a global scale then i cannot see it coming to an end soon.

Best thing for English if it did go badly wrong and we can see a division where the 3 going up competing rather than the joke it has become

 

Not just injuries though it was injuries to key players at the wrong time ............had we had a fully fit squad from day one and remained injury free then we would have walked that league.

All we need next season is the foundations to become a steady league 1 side that will progress 8n years to come a plan that has us looking to reach the championship in 3 years time .............or do you want the gung ho approach where we throw money at players that are here for an easy ride and one last good payday ???

 

one thing is for certain football is a million miles away from where I started watching in the 70’s
Some things for the better, stadiums , pitches , fan comfort etc
Some things far worse ,the virtual closed shop at the top, although this season it was good to see the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth up there , with manure and spurs down the other end
I would be great to see one of them relegated next season but I won’t hold my breath
