Tell us more. What do you know that we don’t about the budget next season?

But this is the whole point we got lucky yes… capitalise on the luck don’t hope lighting strikes twice. Invest and keep the foot on the pedals and pay the going rate.

I know we don't play with wingers, but Stevenage have signed Chem Campbell from Wolves. 22 year old winger, scored 7 in 42 last season in L1 on loan at Reading. Had a couple of run outs in the Premier League.

Just highlights how tough next season will be.

All I know is they don’t know the specifics on what a top 7 budget will be but they know it out weighs considerably what we have. They did say it was a Lower mid table budget. Rupp had the bug they said but can’t/wont compete, what he puts in keeps us standing still. This is my info as of two weeks ago.

Tell me we’ve seen anything so far that contradicts this or suggest otherwise? Lower mid table signings in the door.

I do! What makes you think that's a lie.
Of course we'll be battling for signings just like every other team.

There is penny pinching, been sensible and been ridicilous. It seems we are in the middle. ive heard from a very good source there is a large pot of money avilable to invest in the club from top to bottom - I will assume it was the funds to purchase the ground (yeh its that much).

Give me Joe Wright on whatever he is earning over Matty Pearson on £9k a week anyday.

Nothing wrong with optimism. I would really hope our signings are aiming for more than just survival - we will know more by summer end.

Not saying your source is more correct than mine but simply I haven’t heard anything like that and they’d be excited to tell me. Other than what I’ve been told on how tight it is and he’s allowing us to stand still.

Not sure why everyone is of the opinion that that Tilt will play on the left of a back 3. There was an article that someone posted the other day that states that his best position is in the middle. Would indicate that Wright is to play on the right, leaving 2 spots available for the LCB role, subject to whether Kelly signs or not

Eh? I've not mentioned paying nine grand to anyone. I'm pretty sure our budget is way off paying those sort of salaries. It's the reason we aren't signing the likes of Nahki Wells.

Any CB that is left footed is automatically deemed as a LCB. Its bizarre.

Am i missing something here but i'm sure he was saying Pearson won't be coming here because we won't be paying those sort of wages?

He is, and he's arguing it shows a lack of ambition from us.

With Wright and the resigning of Walker this week the defensive options are starting to take shape.

    A couple of additions would sure that up;

Murray Wallace - seems very similar, if not a slight upgrade on Pearson. I’d be happy with him and Wright in the back 3 as solid options. If not Wallace or Pearson then another if that ilk (solid Champ/L1 CB).

Tayo - I genuinely thought with the Palace website saying he was retained/contract offered he was out of reach. However, City Vent mentioning him makes you think there MAY be something in it…Richards signing on and you’d expect that would be all of our options at the back. If one or neither of those materialise then we need a LB.

Permanent additions of a midfield enforcer (possibly 2 having lost RS and Khela from last year and replaced with Max Power) and a striker to follow which is a must and I think we should be set for a good go at it.

Forget aiming for 20th, any mistake and you’re down. We know that there are some very large budgets (Luton, Plymouth, Cardiff, Bolton, Blackpool etc), however there are a fair few clubs whose budget will be in and around ours… Aiming to be top/high in our own little mini league should be the target for our first season. Clubs such as Doncaster, Port Vale, Wimbledon, Burton, Northampton can’t be much higher than us for budget - we have a reported £3M in season ticket sales. None of those sides will have that in ST revenue. Our commercial department appears to be more fruitful that it has been for many a year.
Mansfield, Stevenage and Exeter will also all be in and around our budget - it’s only when you get top 12 or so that our budget is going to be significantly different and we ‘can’t compete’.
This season is our best opportunity to ride the wave, build fortress VP and ‘speculate to accumulate’ within reason. Nobody is asking for Jay Stansfield, simply give us the financial clout to be able to compete with the 7 or 8 clubs I have mentioned above to give us a chance of a 14-16th consolidation season to build upon so that in 2-3 seasons we are a solid mid-table side not looking over our shoulders.

He is lamenting our ambitions because we couldnt get Pearson over the line, who according to him wanted £9k a week. He thinks we should just pay the going rate.

Im glad we said no and I imagine Blackpool said no aswell.
