You make it sound like he's been in charge for centuries, when in reality his 'progress' - poor to start, green shoots of promise dampened down, followed by finally 'getting it' is no different to numerous other clubs, i.e. he's not been as disastrous as the Carlisle CEO.

It always has my sides splitting, how easy some fans seem to think the role is. Let's remember that Lawn/Rhodes era was arguably worse to begin with - until they fell lucky and employed a manager who gave their finances a boost with two major cup runs in three seasons.

It also amazes me how Rhodes seems to escape any criticism. It was that idiot who, in early 2020, thought bringing back McCall was a good idea - purely to appease fans, some of which bought it hook, line and sinker. They realised the errors of trusting Rhodes when we were suddenly 23rd in December the following season , after yet another none show at Oldham.

Rhodes, basically cost the club two promotion seasons. Sparks's last three seasons of 6th, 9th and 3rd - make him a saint in comparison.

 

Is Julian Rhodes really held in such high esteem from City fans? I’m not sure he is, he received plenty of criticism during his time here.

 

Who do you think trained Sparks up for months and months?

Big part of why McCall’s third spell was so disastrous was the lack of budget provided from the powers that be. They kept money back for January thinking that Covid would end the season and they’d get away with it.

 

Am I misremembering, or was it McCall that wanted to hold back some budget?

I seem to remember him being very proud of the low wage bill... until it went badly wrong.

 

If ‘that idiot’ hadn’t stood up, we’d never have had a club left to support at all.

his biggest mistake was loaning out Windass which got us relegated….he’s made some bad calls, but given the lack of previous interest in the club, at least he kept us going, when times were rocky.

the ship has been steadied for years now though, and finally we’ve made some progress on the field once Sharpe was recruited.

the decision making at the club has been poor and Hughes should have taken us up before fluffing his lines. But its water under the bridge now and hopefully key lessons have been learned.

 

Bates had over 100 appearances at Middlesbrough. Afoka immediately dropped out of the league as far as I can tell.

 

His biggest mistake was agreeing to that deal that would see us still getting fooked over up to the present day ...............

 

Yes, Rhodes couldn't see us being in League 2 could he. That went well.
