I think the transfer of Horsfall to Blackpool highlights to me how much different this league looks from the last time we were here.

I would imagine we will be in the mid table league at best regarding budgets and players we could attract. Batting alongside the likes of Northampton, Exeter and Wimbledon

How many teams will be able to compete with Blackpool? If Stockport can't, not many will.

 

Players will often go for the longer deal over the salary, within reason.
It's the 4 year deal that will have swung it. You don't get many of those in Lge 1/2.

 

This is exactly the problem we will face and I don't think some have realised how much the top end of league 1 has changed. If we really want a player and they are worth it I think we would stretch to a bit over 5k but not much more whereas clubs like Luton, Huddersfield, Rotherham and by the looks of it Blackpool will pay that for their middle players.

The average wage in 23/24 was £3,700, I would imagine for next season that will rise a lot especially when you factor in Luton's wage budget. Even if we double our wage budget to around £8m I think they will be at best the 10th highest.
