It is claimed our wage bill was the third highest in L2 last season but that would have put us in the bottom 4, just the other promoted teams below us, comparing us to L1. So we are going to have to have some serious readjustments and investment

Looks like Stoke are sending Nathan Lowe back out on loan. Would happily take a punt on him after his record at Walsall.

 

He's only really been a starter under Manning who has left for Norwich, or is leaving if he hasn't yet. Might see if he wants him there maybe?

 

Some will sneer he is too old.

 

Not that we were ever likely to be shopping in that level of the market but with Bristol offering him a deal that almost certainly rules us out anyway.

As for Kav, I think his stats are commendable.

In all competitions: 61 apps - 18 goals - 8 assists

I think he’ll relish L1 football next season.

 

It's not all the about the money m8, he's earnt enough already. Or summat.

 

First of all Kavanagh is going to prove a few doubters wrong he will be a very good player in L1 not necessarily the out and out goalscorer we crave but we be a major positive this season IMO. Don't also be surprised that city offer him a new deal with only 12 months left.

On the transfer front itself from what I have heard over the weekend Smallwood and walker are practically now done deals both should be straight two years. No update on Kelly or Richards although that might change on coming days but come next weekend we might actually have 2 new faces through the door rather than the one reported by Simon parker one deal is definitely done the other looks highly likely. There is also a little rumour I hear of a surprise rabbit out of the hat that will take us fans by surprise in terms of calibre of player but that maybe back end of the month/early July before it's confirmed by the club.

Not fussed about Kelly nor Richard’s if he’s setting his sights higher ?

 

Because Kavanagh was bought and Bobby Pointon came through the academy I think it gets forgotten that Kavanagh is only 4 months older than Pointon.
If people want to talk about stats then Pointon got 5 assists in 40 league games, Kavanagh got 5 in 38 league game.

A lot of what Kavanagh brings to the team can't be measured in stats or at least not traditional stats, his workrate and pressing from the front was a big part of why we were so good in the 2nd half of the season. Of course there are areas which he can improve on but you can say that about any players especially 21 year olds in league 1 and 2.

 

I was told it will be a coup at L1 level so I am guessing it is either someone we will be paying good money for or player who has been playing at a higher level. Now people will suggest wells but from what was said i doubt it's him.
